Course Name/Grade Overview
Course DescriptionThe AP Computer Science course is a two semester weighted course that is the equivalent of an introductory Computer Science course offered at colleges and universities. This course prepares students for the AP Computer Science A AP Exam. This course introduces students to Computer Science with fundamental topics using the Java Programming Language that include problem solving, design strategies and methodologies, organization of data and elementary data structures, algorithms and approaches to processing data, analysis of potential solutions, and the ethical and social implications of computing. The course emphasizes object-oriented problem solving and design. Students will gain experience with small, simple problems to large, complex problems. This course requires hands-on, structured lab experiences with one of the three (3) provided Student Lab Guides or the equivalent provided by the instructor.
