Anthem Movie Poster

This assignment will require you to design and create a movie poster for the book Anthem. There is not a movie for this novel so it is your job to create a poster that you think would fit a movie version. All choices in design and actors must be class appropriate.

Think of the posters you see at the movie theatres that show the movies “now playing” and those that are “coming soon” – that is your final goal.

Requirements: On the Front

1. Your poster must be done on an 8 ½ x 11 piece of computer paper (not notebook paper).

2. Your poster must be decorated. You can choose one main image or a few images that represent the book as a whole. (Ex: Try finding a couple clip art images that you feel best portray the novel and trace them onto your poster in a collage image. See the example in class. OR Draw your background and images.)

3. Include the actors and actressespictures that you choose to star in your film for each major role. At least 3 different roles must be included.

4. Include a oneor two line phrase that summarizes the movie/novel and gets the viewer’s attention. This is meant to get people interested in watching the movie even if they did not read the book.

5. You must include, somewhere on your poster: Based on the novel by Ayn Rand.

6. Include three or more critic’s opinions of the film. Remember to make these positive as a designer would not want to include a negative review to promote the movie.

7. The title of the movie must be easily visible in a font that fits the poster. You can choose to title the movie something other than Anthem.

8. Include a made-up release date for your movie on your poster.

Requirements: On the Back

1. Put your name and class period on the back of your poster.

2. Justifications: You must include a justification for your poster choiceson the back. This information must be typed. You justifications should be 4-5 sentences each, and should include text support. Type a justification for each of the following:

- title (Why did you choose this title? Why did you keep the original title?)

-actors/actresses choices - one for each role (How do they resemble the characters in thenovel? What about theseactor/actresses make them the perfect choice for that role?

-catch phrase (What does it mean? Why does it work?)

-poster design (Why did you choose your specific design/background?)

• For each justification you must use at least one quote from the novel to help support your answer. Each quote must be imbedded into a sentence. For each quote cite the page number where the quote was found.

Example:

I chose the actor Heath Ledger to play the role of Equality 7-2521 because was tall, young and handsome. The novel describes Equality as “twenty-one years old…six feet tall, and this is a burden for there are not many men who are six feet tall” (19). He is also the type of actor that would do a great job with a very serious role. This character’s part also goes through a transformation through the novel and I could see him transforming his acting to fit Equality’s progress.
