Well, I don’t know quite how we managed to find another weekend of such good weather for the race – but I’m certainly not complaining!
It was fantastic to see the excitement and enthusiasm to get out and ride, and although there were rather too many puncture victims, I still hope that most of you will have been upbeat as you set off for home.
My afternoon was rather a blur, and I seemed to be in the car for most it, checking that marshals were in place, and ferrying stranded riders home.
I had reported many of the road defects to Bucks County Council several weeks prior to the race. If you damaged equipment as a result of hitting a pothole, please contact me, and I can send you details of the defects that they definitely knew about.
We were again given generous financial support by Brian Phillips from Cobham Antennas – support that keeps the prize list looking impressive, and which is greatly appreciated.
As ever, the promotion of this race was heavily reliant on hard work from dozens of volunteers, and I would like to reiterate my gratitude to you all. The High Wycombe CC dug the deepest, with 11 people giving up their time, followed by Oxford University CC, and with significant contributions also received from VC10 and from Cambridge & Durham Universities. My family were also key to many things working out well, so thanks must also go to Mum & Dad, my wife Nicola and brother Tim.

The only low point for me was having to unblock the gents’ toilets. Thanks a lot to those who contributed to that rather unpleasant problem.
But anyway, moving on, I guess we’ll be doing another one of these in 2011, so I look forward seeing you all next time!
