One Child’s Village is an Edmonton-based charity providing healthcare, education, food, clothing, shelter and emotional/psychological support for HIV/AIDS orphans in developing countries. We also work to provide public education in Canada on the challenges and struggles that face these orphaned children. Our organization is 100% volunteer staffed and all donations go directly to the fulfillment of our projects.
We will be traveling to Kenya soon to build an orphanage in the village of Bumala in western Kenya, which will allow us to provide education and basic necessities of life to about 70 orphans. However, we are short of the equipment needed to fulfill this project and would like to encourage individuals and businesses in the Edmonton and surrounding region to support us with a donation of cash or equipment. Equipment must be in good working order and our deadline for current submissions is June 1, 2007. Keep in mind that your donation is tax-deductible and we will issue a receipt for the fair market value of any equipment offered.
While we will accept an array of office equipment and electronics, we are specifically looking for the following items at this time:
- Laptop computers (a variety of makes and models will do)
- Digital Photo Cameras (prefer 5.0 megapixel or better with rechargeable battery)
- 8 mm Digital Video Camera
- Scanner
- Memory Cards for Digital Photo Camera (prefer 512 MB or larger)
- USB memory keys (prefer 128 MB or larger)
- Hard drive for Hewlett Packard ze5715ca Pavilion Notebook (prefer 40 GB or larger)
- Ram for Hewlett Packard ze5715ca Pavilion Notebook, 2 slots, DDR-SDRAM (prefer 1 GB)
- Ram for Dell Pentium 4, 2 slots, PC133MHz SDRAM (prefer 512 MB or 1 GB)
- Video/Graphics Card for Dell Pentium 4:
- nVidia GeForce 2, GeForce 4mx, or better
- OR ATI Radeon 8500, 9250, or better
