ANNUAL MEETING OF THE TOWN COUNCIL
Monday 20th May, 2013 at 12 noonin the Council Chamber at the Guild Hall
The attendance of all Councillors is requested at the above meeting.
The meeting will be preceded at 11.40 amby a procession to All Saints Church, a brief service and parade back to the Guild Hall. Please assemble by 11.30 am

Apologies for absence
- Election of Town Mayor
To elect a Town Mayor for the 2013-14 municipal year as follows:
(a)The Chairman will ask the Town Clerk to read out the valid nomination for Town Mayor
(b)The Chairman will invite the proposer and seconder to speak in support of their nomination
(c)The Chairman will ask if there are any other nominations
(d)If there is more than one nomination a paper ballot will be taken and the result announced by the Clerk .
(e)The new Mayor will then make the Declaration of Acceptance of Office and take the Oath of Allegiance.
(f)The meeting will then be adjourned to enable the enrobing of the new Mayor.
(g)The meeting will reconvene and the newly elected Town Mayor will address the Town Council and invite the outgoing Mayor to speak.
- Election of Deputy Mayor
To elect a Deputy Town Mayor for the 2013-14 municipal year as follows:
(a)The Mayor will ask the Town Clerk to read out the valid nomination for Deputy Mayor
(b)The Mayor will invite the proposer and seconder to speak in support of their candidate.
(c)The Mayor will call for any other nominations for Deputy Mayor
(d)If there is more than one nomination a paper ballot will be taken and the result announced by the Clerk.
(e)The Deputy Town Mayor will then make the Declaration of Acceptance of Office and take the Oath of Allegiance.
(f)The newly elected Deputy Town Mayor will address the Town Council.
- Election of a Civic representative
The Mayor will ask for nominations for this post.
- Appointment of Town Mayor’s Chaplain
The newly elected Town Mayor to announce his or her choice for Mayor’s Chaplain for the 2013-14 municipal year
- Committees
To consider and agree the Committee formation for the coming year as follows:
a)Planning and Environment (10 members)
b)Personnel (5 members + Town Mayor and Deputy Mayor ex-officio maximum 7 members meeting 4 times per year minimum)
c)Allotments (5 members + Town Mayor ex-officio + 4 members of the Allotments Association) this committee to be dissolved upon self-management
d)CCTV (4 members to meet as required) this committee to be dissolved upon installation of the CCTV
Committees to appoint their Chairman at their first meeting
- Working Groups
To consider thecontinuation of and appoint membership to the following working groups:
