The quality assurance of Authority-registered subjects is based upon four phases: study plan approval, internal reviews, moderation meetings and external reviews.
Internal reviews
Annual internal reviews are an integral part of the school’s quality management system for each subject area syllabus (SAS) and QCAA short course offered by the school.

Requirements of the internal review
When implementing the student achievement quality assurance process for Authority-registered subjects and short courses, schools must meet the following three requirements:
Requirement 1:Partnership with the QCAA
Requirement 2:Regulation of student achievement
Requirement 3:Continual improvement.
Citable evidence
Citable evidence could include and is not limited to:
- records of internal moderation or peer moderation
- meeting minutes and agendas
- revised assessment instrumentsand/or dimensions/criteria sheets
- Form R12 feedback from recent moderation meetings
- feedback and advice from a recent external review.
