Annual General Meeting of Dunster Patient Participation Group

Held at the Tithe Barn at 6.30pm on 11th December 2014

Doctor’s Report

  • Temporary Road Closure- 5th January to 31st March 2015

Dr. Kelhambriefly outlined the key points regarding he had been given permission from NHS England to be able to hold extra temporary surgeries during the planned road closure period at the Tithe Barn. He had been working closely with the PPG on this matter and this is still ongoing.

  • The extra surgeries will allow for those patients unable to attend the Parks Street surgery greater flexibility, in appointment location. Patient’s will have the availability to park in the Steep Car park or in the Tithe Barn Car Park
  • The IT Department of the CCG has confirmed technically the access by the GP’s to clinical Medical records is available with the assurance that strict confidentiality procedures are maintained.
  • The number of surgeries to be offered is still under discussion –ongoing
  • Patients are also able to attend the Porlock surgery if that is more suitable.
  • Arrangements are already in place for The Blood Transport Service to pick up the daily samples from the Tithe Barn – in hand.
  • Volunteers will be required to assist in the running of the extra surgeries – if interested in helping during the Temporary Closure period please kindly put your name forward to ether a member of the PPG Committee or via the Reception Desk.
  • Dunster Post office has agreed to be a temporary pick up point for Prescriptions

New surgery- Report

Dr Kelham announced to the audience the news that the new Surgery will commencebuilding work onsite from Monday 5th January 2015 with a plan for the building to be finished by December 2015.

The staffing for theproject work is all with local builders and the Project Manager recruited is also a local person.

Christine Lawrence our local Somerset County Councillor addressed the audience at this point and explained that it had taken over 5 years of hard work and effort by Dr Kelhalm for the new build to come to fruition and a vote of thanks was given.

General Surgery – Update

A Newsletter is planned to go out to all patients shortly to inform them of the arrangements and changes.

Chairman’s Welcome

The Chairman Jim Kent apologised for his lateness and welcomed all the members of the public who had attended the evenings meeting. He gave a report on a number of matters, the key ones were:

  • The recent Patient Survey was completed by 134 patients who had attended the Flu Jab Day from question set by the Patient Group. The audience was guided though the results.
  • He also gave a brief report on the work undertaken by the Group during the year at the “HealthAwareness Event” and “Flu Jab Day” respectively.

Elections were duly held and the results are as follows:
