Training & Communications Services Contract
Sue Targett introduced herself and gave a brief summary of her previous experience in the Community & Voluntary sector. She then talked about the approaches she would be taking to the role and reporting timetable that had been agreed with Teresa, Ann Marie and Declan Turnbull. As the role focuses mainly on training/supporting the PPN representatives on various committees, and developing the Representatives’ Charter, she gave most detail on her plans for that aspect of the contract. She will also be managing the email account, Facebook, Twitter and issuing monthly newsletters. Sue hopes to issue a newsletter tomorrow.
Meetings to year-end
Secretariat:
- 20 September
- 18 October
- 15 November
- 20 December
Sue will provide a report of her progress to Teresa for the Secretariat meetings and only attend if required. She will be setting dates for the autumn plenaries (6 in all) and booking venues over the next few weeks. A full schedule will be in place by mid-August. They will all take place between late September and late November. Sue will organise and attend all plenaries.
John Tonra suggested that Social Enterprise would be an interesting topic for an input at some of the plenaries. Sue will follow up on this.
Sue is looking for other suggestions for plenary inputs – contact her on 086 855 6611 or .
New registrations
The meeting ratified 6 new registrations: Bangor Hibs FC, Ballina Community Radio, O'Dwyer Art Centre, Westport Eco-Congregation, Charlestown and District Mens Shed, Brickens Community Centre. Ben had checked into each of the groups online.
One applicant was an umbrella group for environmental organisations in Westport who were all already members. It was decided that the umbrella group would not be ratified as a separate entity.
These decisions will be formalised at the September Secretariat meeting, as this meeting had been added to the schedule of meetings and was primarily to meet Sue.
Incoming Convenor
Pat Neary hopes to confirm that he will be the Incoming Convenor at the September Secretariat meeting. John agreed to be Acting Incoming Convenor until then.
Next Meeting:
September 20th, 7pm, Cedar House.
