Announcement and Invitation for Registration to First Margi Memorial Lecture by

Dr. Yusuf Hamied, CMD, CIPLA Ltd. and world-renowned exponent of IPR in Pharma, has kindly consented to deliver the first Margi Memorial Lecture in the “JuhuJagruti Hall”, 1st Floor, Mithibhai College Campus, Vile Parle (West), Mumbai – 400 056 on 9th November 2013 at 10.00 a.m. followed by a Panel Discussion and interactive session.
Pre-registration is compulsory. There will be no registration fee. A commemorative publication of fond memories of Margi through short articles and nostalgic photographs will be published on the occasion. Announcement will also be made about the proposed Margi Patel Choksi Memorial IPR Foundation, which will be a registered Public Trust (to be known as Margi Memorial Foundation). All are cordially invited to register in advance as the hall capacity is limited and registration will be strictly on first-come-first served basis.

We all know that it was Margi, who at the age of 24started the Institute of Intellectual Property Studies (IIPS) at Shri Vile Parle KelvaniMandal for training in Patent Law and Practice for the first time in Asia. She followed up this with AIPS (Academy of Intellectual Property Studies), thereafter. All of us owe her a lot. She was a mentor to more than 200 of the first students of IPR in India and many more were benefitted who attended the workshops and seminars set up at the Institute and the Academy.
In her fond memories and as a tribute to her contribution to the field of IPR, we, as per desire of many with whom Margi was closely associated, want to initiate something that will linger for decades in the arenaof IP education. We plan to initiate Margi Memorial Lecture Series where we will invite prominent personalities from the sphere of IPR who will contribute to the IPR training.
To sustain this and other activities which we propose to undertake, we are also planning to set up a "Margi Patel Choksi (IPR) Foundation", with active support and participation from all of us. This Foundation, once formalized will take over all the activities thereafter, including Margi Memorial Lecture Series.
