Annamaria Veneziano in Fall 07 Enjoyed Her English Internship at the North Shore Chamber

ZOMG

Annamaria Veneziano in Fall ‘07 enjoyed her English Internship at the North Shore Chamber of Commerce so much she has parlayed that to a telecommuting contract job with the Merrimack Valley CC. It seems that Annamaria’s expertise at social networking is in high demand.

Oddly, Annie O’Toole Bolthrunis (aka “Crowbar” and “Queen of the Undead”) did a similar project for The Copyright Clearance Center. It looks as though all those hours on MySpace and Facebook may pay off, so start revising those resumés; Could corporate America be finding out just what the Millenial Generation is all about?

This is starting to be tiresome, but after Casey Roland landed the highly competitive internship position at the Peabody Essex Museum, putting in enough hours to earn 6 credits…yeah, you guessed it… they hired her to continue working in the museum’s publications office—and now they are paying her cash money.

Sara McDonald, a dual major in History and English, spent her internship working in the Lowell Historical Park, while Andrew Riley served a stint as an editor for Sounding East, Salem State’s nationally distributed literary journal. Of course he reported to the editor in chief, who…what a surprise!... that turns out to be none other than Casey Roland. Several of us are lending credibility to the idea that Casey is twins, or maybe triplets. How else can she get so much done?

GUEST WRITER

Check out the forthcoming PW class visitor, author Kate Yeomans. Yeomans, a resident of Newburyport, is the author of Dead Men Tapping, a tour de force of literary nonfiction. Amazon.com reveals:

In the predawn darkness of September 5, 1996, the Heather Lynne II was struck by a barge and overturned in calm seas 10 miles off Cape Ann, Massachusetts. Trapped inside, three fishermen were alive in the diesel-choked air pocket that kept the boat afloat. Onlookers waited for the Coast Guard, but when a Coast Guard cutter arrived, it carried no divers. …on arrival, the men were declared dead, their shredded knuckles and fingertips mute evidence of the horror of their last hours.

Kate Yeoman will be with us on TUESDAY Feb 19. Watch for news of which classes and what times. Learn how she researched, wrote, and published her book.

By the way, Kate Yeomans holds a Coast Guard 100-ton captain’s license and has spent the past twelve years writing about the sea and the people who work and recreate upon it. Her award-winning writing has appeared in Boston Magazine, Boston Sunday Globe Magazine, Chesapeake Bay Magazine, Commercial Fisheries News, the literary journal Creative Nonfiction, Cruising World, Sail, Professional Mariner, Offshore, Robb Report, Voyaging and others.
