Introduction to Animal Sciences

Credit by Exam

Date, time and location: August 29, 2017 at 10 AM in 209 Animal Sciences building, 1675 Observatory Drive

Preregistration: Please pre-register for this exam by contacting Ms. Kathy Monson at (608-263-5225) by August 22, 2017.

Description of the exam: The exam will have two parts, consisting of 100 multiple choice questions (1 point/question) and an essay exam. The essay exam willconsist of eight questions from which the student must choose five questions (20 points/question) to answer. The duration of the exam is expected to be 2.5hours, though test takers will not be limited in the time allowed to complete the exam. Students should bring pencils and a calculator withthem. Cell phones must be put away and may not be used as calculators.

Meritorious performance on the exam: A passing score on the multiple choice examwill be 80 points. If a student passes the multiple choice exam, then their essay exam will be graded. If the multiple choice exam score in lessthan 80, then the student's essay exam will not be graded and the student will fail this exam procedure. If the student passes the multiplechoice exam, then their essay exam will be graded by two faculty members. The student mustearn a score of 80 on the essay exam to pass. An essay exam score of less than 80 means that the student has failed this exam.

Exam fee: The cost to each student for taking this exam is $135, non-refundable, which will be added to the student’s financial account by the Bursar’s Office.

Reporting results: Each student who takes the exam will be contacted via UW-Madison student email address by one of the faculty member graders by September 1, 2017. Results of the exam will be provided. If the student has earned 4 credits for AS/DS 101, then the student will be advised to drop her/his prior enrollment in AS/DS 101 in favor of taking a substitute course(s). The faculty member will assist the student in selecting the substitute course prior to the semester which begins on September 5, 2017.

Transcript: After a student successfully completes this exam, the Registrar’s Office will be notified so that the student’s transcript includes 4 credits for completion of AS-DS 101.
