Work History

Perceptant Corporation, Austin TX, 11/2001-4/2002

Project Manager

Perceptant is a start-up company providing real-time business management software to the banking industry. The product extracts data from legacy systems using ETL tools, processes the data into a multi-dimensional data cube, and provides access to the metrics through a web browser. The product was built using Microsoft .NET technology. Left Perceptant due to reduction in force.

Position: Hired as PM into a matrixed organization of multiple independent projects developing components of the final product. VP Development focused on technology and was the functional manager.

Accomplishments:

·  Constructed a detailed overall project schedule by working with all members of the team (VP, developers, QA-testers, and writer) to identify, describe and size tasks, and identify task dependencies between projects.

·  Identified and managed project risks

·  Designed and implemented project status reporting and communication processes focused on bi-weekly development goals whose status was communicated to executive management.

·  Devised a method of associating project tasks with development goals that facilitated flexible reprioritization and rescheduling of development goals and associated tasks. This allowed us to cope with high risks in R&D, in the beta software platform (.NET), and in reprioritization of product requirements during development.

·  Acted as Configuration Manager. Defined, implemented, and supported Perceptant’s CM structure and processes using StarTeam. Our CM allowed parallel development of multiple product components, many of which will be customized for each client. Wrote and maintained product build scripts for daily build and regression test.

·  Worked closely with QA and Pubs. Drove detailed planning for product testing and user documentation. Evaluated automated software testing tools for use in regression testing.
