NEW JERSEY LAW CENTER ART SHOW

PROSPECTUS 2018

The New Jersey State Bar Foundation is proud to announce the Sixth Annual Art Show to take place at the New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick. The response to our prior shows was broad and enthusiastic featuring many talented members of the state’s legal community.

CALL FOR ENTRIES:
Artworks created by lawyers, judges, law professors, law students and other law-related professionals are sought for juried art exhibit. We are accepting paintings, photography, sculpture, specialty wood, ceramics, metal and glass work. This is not an all-inclusive list.

ENTRY PROCESS:
Begin by completing a Registration Form for the art work to be submitted.

Please be sure to include your complete contact information, along with a brief description and title of the work(s). If the work is for sale, please indicate a price.

THREE Entries may be submitted as digital files in the JPEG format. Image size must be at least 768 pixels on the longest side (but no larger than 1200 pixels)no more than 96 dpi. All media are acceptable.If you are submitting images ofthree-dimensional work, you can show 3 separate views of each work. Space at the NJ Law Center for displaying sculpture is limited.

CALENDAR:

Friday, July 13, 2018: Deadline for submission of Entries and Registration Form

Friday, August 24, 2018: Announcement of accepted entries

Friday, September 21, 2018: Deadline for delivery of selected work at the NJ Law Center

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2018: Show opens with the Artists’ Opening Reception

Friday October 26, 2018: Show closes. Pick up of artwork begins.

JUDGING:
Once the jurors finalize the selections for the Show, the artists will all be notified via email or phone beginning on Friday, August 25, 2017. Each artist whose art is selected will arrange to frame those selected pieces. Sculptural works will also be considered, although display area is limited. The "ready to hang" framed prints must be delivered to the New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick by Friday, September 21, 2018.

PRESENTATION:
Selected works need to be framed or have some other form of presentation device and arrive at the Law Center "ready to hang". PLEASE HAVE HOOKS AND WIRES on all hanging pieces. Presentation is very important, so we want to encourage you to professionally prepare your art for the exhibition.

ELIGIBILITY:
Any lawyer, judge, law student, law professor or other law-related professional may submit images for consideration. Art must be original, created by the person who enters that work.

ENTRY FEE:

There is no entry fee. Works may be available for sale, and we encourage the artists to donate a portion or all of the proceeds to the New Jersey State Bar Foundation, a 501(c) (3) organization.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE:
The Registration Forms and the digital images must be received by Friday, July 13, 2018 at 5:00 pm by emailing to .

FINAL ACCEPTANCE:
Final acceptance of entries for the New Jersey Law Center Art Show exhibition is up to the judges’ discretion after viewing the delivered framed works. If a work does not match the appearance of the JPEG entry, or if the quality of the framing (presentation device) are not suitable quality for gallery presentation, the judges may ask the artist to replace whichever element is not suitable. This is a high quality show, so we expect that all of the art be presented in a professional manner.
EXHIBITION:
Selected work will be displayed at the New Jersey Law Center in public viewing areas including the Visitors’ Lounge, Strong Lounge foyers and Rotunda. The Board Room may also be in use for the exhibit depending upon the number of works selected.

SALES:
Exhibited work may be available for sale. The price for each framed print is entirely up to each artist to decide. The artist may donate a portion of all sales that occur during the exhibit to the New Jersey State Bar Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization and the proceeds assist in funding the Foundation’s ongoing educational and philanthropic mission.

SHIPPING:
The artist must arrange for delivery and pick-up of the selected work to the New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick. We regret that we cannot be flexible for the delivery to the Law Center; however, we can work with the artist on the pick-up date.

USE OF IMAGES:
All entrants agree that any image they submit to the New Jersey Law Center Art Show chosen by our judges may be used for marketing and promotional purposes directly related to the show. This use may include, but is not limited to, publication in any New Jersey State Bar Foundation and New Jersey State Bar Association printed materials, advertisements, electronic media and website and social media outlet. Any image used will include a credit line of the artist. Copyright and all other rights remain that of the artist.
