VETERAN LADIES' GOLF ASSOCIATION’S JAMBOREE

REGULATIONS GOVERNING PLAY

The Committee

·  The Organising Committee shall consist of the President, Captain and Secretary of the host region.

·  If the Jamboree is affected by adverse conditions and decisions have to be taken concerning the order of play, the three other Captains will be co-opted onto the Organising Committee.

·  It is recommended that each region should nominate a deputy to act for their Captain in case of her absence.

The Matches

·  The order of play between the regional teams will be decided by a 12 year rotational draw (as agreed between the four Captains in April 2013).

·  Each regional team will play every other team.

·  The matches will comprise three foursomes and six singles - each over 18 holes.

·  Points will be awarded for team results - one for a team win and half a point for a halved match.

·  Each region may nominate up to eight players, and the names should be submitted to the specified officials at the Captain's Meeting the day before the Jamboree starts.

·  It is the responsibility of the Regional Captains to present their pairings and the order of play to the Organising Committee at least 30 minutes before the starting time in the foursomes. The order of play for the singles shall be handed in not less than 30 minutes before the team is due to start or as soon as possible after the conclusion of the foursomes, whichever is the latter.

Conditions of Competition

·  The matches shall be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf as approved by R&A Rules Limited.

·  Players must walk at all times unless permitted to ride by the committee.

·  Each player is responsible for playing without undue delay. A strict pace of play policy will be operated.

·  Competitors may not engage a professional or assistant professional as a caddie.

·  A player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. If a player uses a distance- measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect her play (eg gradient, wind speed, temperature etc), the player is in breach of Rules of Golf Rule 14-3 for which the penalty is disqualification.

·  The decision of the Organising Committee is final in all matters.

Replacements

·  Should any nominated member of a team become incapacitated due to illness, accident or other unavoidable occurrence, another nominated player may be substituted, but only up to the starting time of the replacement player.

·  Be it foursomes or singles, the substitute must then take the place of that player once the team sheets have been exchanged.

Team Advice

·  Each region may appoint one person, e.g. Team Captain, who may give advice to members of that team.

·  That person shall be identified to the Organising Committee, prior to the commencement of the tournament.

·  Any subsequent changes to the previously nominated person must be notified to the Tournament Office prior to their team's commencement of play.

Adverse Conditions

·  If only the foursomes of a match are played, three points will be awarded for each match – nine in total.

·  Should only one round be possible due to inclement weather (i.e. a late start) all eight players / reserves will play singles with the 9th point being halved. This will equate to the usual daily result, i.e. 9 points on offer.

·  Providing a course is suitable, the Organising Committee may wish to discuss a two-tee start.

·  Should the last two days play be lost due to unplayable conditions, the Jamboree winners will be decided on the matches played.

·  Should play only be possible on the final day, only the six singles will be played both in the morning and afternoon. There shall be a draw to determine which teams play each other.

Ties

·  The winning Region will be the team with the most match points. (1 point for a win and ½ point for a halved match)

·  When two or more teams have scored an equal number of match points, the position shall be determined by the number of individual game points (including halved matches).

·  If there is still a tie, the team with the highest number of individual games won (excluding halved matches) shall win.

·  If there is still a tie, it shall be resolved by aggregating the number of holes played in individual games WON and the Team with the fewest number of holes played shall be declared the winner.

·  If there is still a tie, then the Trophy will be held equally between the tied winners. Should one of them happen to be the holder, they will be deemed to have retained the Trophy and the Quaich will be given (shared) to the other tied winner(s).

(Rule on Ties revised after agreement at the Captain’s meeting at Sherwood Forest Golf Club 3/8/15 by Gillian Stump, MVLGA Secretary 2015)
