Ancient Egypt Travel Brochure Project

Your assignment is to research ancient Egyptian society, geography, and history. After doing so, you will create a travel brochure persuading an ancient traveler to take a trip to Egypt. You will use your textbook, classroom notes, and library resources for this assignment. You will also be provided with at least 2 class periods to conduct your research and work on your travel brochure. You will also be provided with opportunities to develop the writing components of this project in your English class.
You are expected to complete a neat and creative travel brochure as part of this assignment. This travel brochure will contain 6 sections on a piece of poster board that will be provided to you in history class. Each fold should represent 1 of the below topics and research items.
1. Exciting Title and Cover Page: This will capture the ancient traveler’s eye and make him/her want to open your brochure to find out more about ancient Egypt. It should include a creative slogan and an eye-catching visual such as a picture or drawing representing Egypt.
2. The Nile River: This section of your project should be used to share the importance of the NileRiver for the ancient Egyptians with a traveler opening your brochure. This should include one well written paragraph that outlines the uses and value of the NileRiver in ancient Egypt. (You will be discussing this further your English class over the next week.) This section should also contain at least one picture or drawing representing the NileRiver.
3. Egyptian Landmarks: You will also create a section of your brochure outlining the major landmarks and historic sites to an ancient traveler. This will tell a traveler about historic sites like the Pyramids, Great Sphinx, Valley of the Kings, and/or other important places found in ancient Egypt. This should include one well written paragraph that outlines the important historic landmarks in Egypt. (You will be discussing this further your English class over the next week.) This section should also contain at least one picture or drawing representing landmarks of ancient Egypt.
4. Religion in Egypt: In this section you will share the importance of religion to a traveler making a trip to ancient Egypt. This will tell he traveler about the religious beliefs of Egypt. You should share the major gods of Egyptian religion and the embalming/mummification process in ancient Egypt. This should include one well written paragraph that outlines the importance of religion in Egypt. (You will be discussing this further your English class over the next week.) This section should also contain at least one picture or drawing representing religion of ancient Egypt.
5. Map of ancient Egypt: You should include a travel map of ancient Egypt on 1 of your brochure sections. You map should include the locations of the Nile River, Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea, Nile Delta, Giza (home of the Great Pyramids), Lower Egypt, and Upper Egypt. This will help the ancient traveler to plan his/her trip! This section should also contain at least one picture or drawing representing ancient Egypt.
6. Egyptian Fast Facts: Travelers need to know a little bit about where they are going! Give a brief summary of what they need to know in order to successfully travel to ancient Egypt. Please list at least 8 interesting facts about Egypt in this section of your travel brochure. Example facts may include listing important cities in ancient Egypt, climate, interesting places to visit, ancient Egyptian sporting/recreation events, common foods in ancient Egypt, etc.This section should also contain at least one picture or drawing representing ancient Egypt.

As you conduct your research for your brochure, use this notes sheet to record your findings. This sheet should be completely filled-in prior to constructing your brochure. You will be handing this sheet in with your brochure as part of your project grade.
1. The NileRiver: List your findings about the NileRiver in this section. Think about the uses of the NileRiver and why this river was important to the ancient Egyptians. ______
