Anastasia (Stasia) Cashin (Née Upton) R.I.P Carraturk, Ballylanders, Limerick:

After a short illness, in her early 70’s and born in Carraturk, the people from around the area are shocked at the sudden passing of Stasia. Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, who looked after her very well and were with her throughout her short illness at her son's residence. The family would like to thank all the medical staff, doctors, nurses, hospitals and friends who helped in any way. Pre-deceased by her husband Ned.Sadly missed by her loving sons Gerard and John, daughters Noreen and Marie, daughter-in-law Lily and Marguerite, son-in-law T.J., close friends Maureen and Julia, relatives, neighbours and many friends. Stasia is from the parish and an only child; and married an only child Ned also from the parish. She was a respected member of the farming community. The locals quickly missed her from the road where she would drive the cows on a daily basis. If you drove to Mitchelstown you were sure to see Stasia a dangerous spot at times but she was always in control. On her shopping to Mitchelstown she would drop into Clongibblon Hotel and have the cup of tea. She was a big fan of Daniel O’ Donnell. Stasia will be sadly missed by her loving family and friends. After requiem mass in the Church of Assumption, Ballylanders, Stasia was laid to rest alongside her husband Ned in Ballylanders Cemetery. Ardheis De go raibha h-anamdilis.

Ladies County League Final:

Ballylanders ladies senior football team were defeated by St Ailbes in the county league final in Knockainey on Sunday evening last. St. Ailbes were on top early in the game and got off the mark with two early points. Kristy Carroll hit back with a point for Bally but Ailbes replied with a well taken goal. As halftime approached there was only 3 points between the sides, Caoimhe Clancy adding a point and Kristy Carroll a goal. Ailbes opened the gap to six points midway through the second half, as they grew in confidence. Unfortunately for Ballylanders Caoimhe Clancy struck the crossbar when a goal seemed on. If that goal had gone in the result may have been different. The Ballylanders scoring was finished with a point from Rosemary Rea and a goal from Cathy Mee. Ailbes added another goal to leave the final score Ballylanders 3-3 St. Ailbes 3-9. On Sunday 25th of June Ballylanders will begin the defence of their county title when they play Monagea at home.
