Target Audience

Physicians, advanced practice nurses, clinical researchers, and other healthcare professionals involved in the diagnosis and management of TB disease and M. tuberculosis infection.

Course Overview

Geared toward clinicians, this event will engage participants through lecture and discussion of Tennessee’s TB cases, with an analysis of clinical challenges and opportunities by a panel of clinical and laboratory experts. Local lodging is available.

Upon completion of this course, the participant will:
  • Increase awareness of why MDR-TB threatens global healthand implications of its effects locally to improve the case rates of TB in local areas.
  • Identify the risk-factors for MDR-TB to ensure appropriate evaluation and initial treatment Gain expert insight for the medical management of TB, including MDR-TB, pediatric TB, HIV/TB co-infection and other co-morbidities.
  • Identify the epidemiology of diabetes in the TB population to increase the awareness of treatment complexities for providers who treat this challenging population.

Continuing Education

The Curry International Tuberculosis Center is approved as a provider of continuing education by the California State Board of Registered Nurses, Provider Number CEP 12308. This educational conference (OR COURSE) is approved for 6.75 continuing education hours.

Certificates will be emailed approximately 10to 12 weeks after the course to all participants who requested CME or nursing credits on their applications and who successfully complete the course. We will also contact all CME recipients’ 4-months after the course to help us with our long-term evaluation activities.
