Colorado law requires that candidates for state government jobs be residents of Colorado at the time of application.
This is an essential service position (Required to be on duty to perform essential and/or emergency services of the agency without delay and/or interruption).
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
serves as the first-line contact with victims of crime and emergencies, provides assistance, information and direction to all members and visitors of the campus community; position patrols by vehicle and on foot all properties owned or leased by the University of Colorado Colorado Springs to detect and deter criminal activity. Specific duties include:
  • An officer presents a Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) course to campus sorority
  • Defend and justify agency's position in court or hearings. - Show probable cause in a court of law to justify department's actions in pursuing a criminal action against a suspect.
  • Defend and justify University position, in court or hearings. - Show probable cause in pursuing criminal action. - Take appropriate legal action and ensure safety of all on scene.
  • Patrol all properties owned or leased by the UCCS to detect and deter criminal activity. - Respond to and investigate reports of criminal activity. Enforce federal, state, and local laws from petty offenses to felonies and arrest, release, or incarcerate offenders. Enforce traffic, parking, and campus regulations. - - Conduct interviews and interrogations of victims, complainants, witnesses and suspects within the guidelines of current legal practices.

Candidates must be ability and willing to be able to lift, push, carry and pull up to 100 lbs.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Current Colorado POST certification (provide a copy of current certification with the application) AND one (1) year of law enforcement work experience as it relates to the work assignment. Must be at least 21 years of age; possess a current, valid Colorado Driver’s License and no: Felony convictions Domestic violence convictions Acquiring more than seven points in the last year and/or more than 12 points within the last two years on a driver’s license. Alcohol/drug related traffic convictions in the last three years and repeat alcohol/drug convictions after the age of 18 within the last ten years.
  • Must be Colorado P.O.S.T. certified (provide a copy of the certificate). Note: Positions are subject to a background investigation in accordance with the administrative procedures of the State Personnel Director. Physical and psychological evaluations are required in accordance with section 24-31-303 (5)(b), C.R.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
Police experience in Higher Ed. - Patrol experience. - Experience training Law Enforcement officers and civilians.
