Connecticut IB Academy Welcomes Teachers & Students from Northeast China

The Connecticut IB Academy (CIBA) will be welcoming a delegation of teachers from the prestigious High School attached to Northeast Normal University in Changchun, Jilin Province, China. Northeast Normal University is one of China’s top-ranked universities and the high school attached to the university is the most prestigious high school in Jilin Province and one for the top high schools in China.

On Tuesday February 3, 2015, twenty teachers and administrators from the high school will spend two hours learning about the high academic achievement at CIBA. The adult delegation is visiting Connecticut through the auspices of the Connecticut Association of Schools’ International Programs.

Ten high school students from the High School Attached to Northeast Normal University will experience American high school culture for a three day visit From February 9th through the 12th during which they will attend classes, participate in after-school activities and stay with CIBA students and their families.

CIBA, as an International Baccalaureate World School© emphasizes developing global competence and international mindedness in its students and teachers. Hosting long and short-term international guests is one way in which it achieves those goals. CIBA is currently also hosting eight long-term international exchange students from German, Italy, China, Mexico and Brazil.

CIBA, an authorized IB World School© was most recently named a top high school in Connecticut, the number thirteen high school in the Northeast and the number forty-ninth best high school in the United States. CIBA offers the rigorous I.B. Diploma Programme, which prepares students for success in the most competitive universities, as well as in their careers. CIBA, a Sheff Magnet School, accepts students from the Greater Hartford area through the state run Regional School Choice Office lottery.
