“HEALING THE GULF’S WATERS,

An Interactive Ceremony and Workshop. . . .”

On the evening of April 20th, forty miles off the Louisiana coast in the Gulf of Mexico, BP’s giant oil rig Deepwater Horizon, exploded. Eleven men died. The damaged well head, one mile below the surface, began polluting the marine ecosystem with 60,000 barrels of oil and gas daily. On July 15th, a temporary cap was installed, and as of this writing, is generally holding. Although the bulk of harm to the Gulf environment is occurring now, prior major oil spills in 1974, 1978, 1979, and 1989, still continue to cause harm to the marine ecology, decades, even 30 years after the event. So, OUR HEALING WORK is just beginning.

Oil and gas are toxic to all living things. We muggles just don’t get it. Every day we poison the environment. Yet we breathe the environment, we drink the environment, we eat the environment.

Earth purifies by its hydrologic cycle. Water, in the form of rain and snow, gathers toxins from the atmosphere and surface of the earth; rivers collect and carry those waters to the oceans for purification. Eventually the waters are cleansed, evaporate and return to rain again over the land, thus nourishing and sustaining us all, as that water/earth purification cycle has done for millions of years. Yes, when the oceans die of toxins, Earth dies.

Helpless through we may feel in these dark times, remember that each Soul, when connected to each other, when connected to the Life Force, has magnificent power. Come remember, let us try our best to help, to cleanse, to heal, to renew. And as we help others, we are helped in return.

So come, learn a Mind/Soul technique, a timeless, a really dynomite technique for healing, for changing attitude and behavior, in absentia. And upon your contract/vow to use it only for good, we’ll apply the work to the Gulf Oil Disaster. Bring a notepad and pen.

Then, all Heart and Body, we’ll do a long, very slow, very gentle, South African dance cycle. Throughout human history Dance has been a primary form of Prayer/Influence. So we’ll call the Orishas, the Ancient Ones of the Estuaries, the river bottoms, the marsh and bayous to come help cleanse and heal. Bring two sea shells or similar personal natural memorabilia of the sea shore (loaners will be available in limited supply). And of course there will be take home assignments.
