An integrated research project on a Canadian province or territory

My subject:______

Over the next few months you will be completing a research project about a Canadian province or territory other than British Columbia. It is important to use effective time management and organizational skills for this project, as it is a big project with many components. The aim of this project is for you to learn a lot about the province or territory that you are researching, while also improving your organization and research skills, and having fun. A section will be assigned on a weekly basis and it should be completed within the week. Some parts will require more time than others so effective time management is essential.

Good luck!

Dear Parent(s)/ Guardian(s),

We have begun an individual project on either a Canadian province or territory. This project will be a valuable learning experience teaching your child about our country, they will also learn research and organizational skills.

Please ask your child to explain to you what he or she will be working on during the following months. Students will be provided with resources in the school library. However, it may be necessary to obtain additional resources from your local library. As the internet is not always reliable, please ensure that a minimum of two books are referenced.

I, as teacher, will be working closely with your child on this project during the upcoming months, both teaching the appropriate research skills and supervising the organization of each section. However, I would like both you and your child to be aware of the total picture for the project from the outset. With your support I believe this will be an extremely valuable learning experience for your child. Thank you in advance for your support!

Mr. D. Brown
