Herewith we are given another key of knowledge with which to open up the mystery of the passion story; namely, that we should remember what happened to Christ, the Head of the Church, [for] that is also what the members of this Body also have to be prepared for. Gal. 6: I carry on my body the scars of Christ. Journey once more through the passion history with this key: Christ was betrayed by His own disciple; thus, human enemies are members of His own household, Mat. 10. Christ was cast aside and condemned by the high priests, scribes and elders – who regarded themselves as pillars of the Church. Thus also is the little flock of Christ most often betrayed by those who want to sit in positions of high authority in the Church. The high priests instigate (stir up) the worldly authority against Christ; so it also goes with Christ’s members.
