An exciting new school starting with the primary phase!

Following approval for the first SASH school, which will open as Ditton Park Academy in September 2014, the Slough Association of Secondary Heads have got together with leading Primary Headteachers in the town to apply for a second school. This time we are looking to open an all through school from reception classes to Sixth Form. The second SASH School – SASH 2 - will open in 2015 for children in Reception and Year 1 and the

primary phase will have just 120 children in each year group. We hope that the site for the school will be in the central or slightly to the west of the central Slough area.

The second SASH School will eventually be a 1,940 place state funded, co-educational, all through school (reception to Year 13). This includes a sixth form of 200 places. The primary and secondary phases will still be small enough that all children get the attention and care they need. The children in the primary part of the school will have the option to move through to secondary without having to apply for a place.

Once again The Sash 2 School will be an excellent additional local school for local children and families in the community of Slough. It will offer more choice of high quality teaching and learning for parents.

The partnership of schools has collaborated to propose a new school in response to

§  the opportunity to create a school which draws on the best of existing practice;

§  the chance to introduce inspirational and 21st Century learning models from the school’s inception and

§  in order to address the existing shortfall of primary school places in the town and what is predicted to be a serious gap in local secondary school places by 2017.

An outstanding school

Our school will be a place where all pupils enjoy learning, an inclusive learning environment where all learners are welcome and able to succeed.

It will be a first choice local school for families in the neighbourhood. It will provide world class care and support, as well as the teaching and learning opportunities that ensure the success of the pupils, enabling them to move on with confidence through the phases of their education from primary to secondary and into work, further training or education.

Our unique partnership across the fourteen secondary schools and our primary collaboration means that our pupils will benefit from access to a very wide range of best educational practice in both the primary and secondary phases of their education.

We will work in partnership with parents and families, who will be closely involved in the development of the school. Staff, pupils, parents and families will feel like it is their school – a welcoming and supportive place to be. We will have the real advantage of being able to draw on the experience, expertise and best practice from primary schools which are part of this collaboration.

Students who leave the school at the age of 18 or 19 will be active citizens ready to face the challenges of a 21st century society which is characterised by change. Having followed an exciting and rigorous curriculum they will be innovative, creative leaders with the knowledge and skills to succeed.
