An award for an Industry leader, who had excelled in a leadership role in the agricultural and deciduous fruit environment over an extended period.

OBJECTIVE
The Deciduous Fruit Industries and ARC Infruitec-Nietvoorbij’s merit award for an industry leader is annually awarded to an individual who had excelled in a leadership role in the agricultural sector at large and more specificallywithin the deciduous fruit environment for a minimum period of at least 10 continuous years of service.
The main purpose of this award is:
•To motivate industry leaders to commit themselves to excel in their leadership in strategic, management and/or operational industry activities;
•To promote the interests of the deciduous fruit producers on a national basis and to enhance the image and products of the deciduous fruit industry;
•To establish and maintain continuous unity and commitment within the fruit industry as a whole.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Partners in the Deciduous Fruit Gala Evening are required to submit a thorough motivation in one industry leader according to the under mentioned selection criteria based on the candidate’s performance and contribution to the industry over a period of time. / Finalists will be selected on the basis of the motivations received:
Motivations must contain:
•Level of contributions delivered by the nominee over 10 or more years
•Impact of this contribution by the nominee on producers or deciduous fruit industries or his/her institution.
•Other reasons for nomination that have to be considered
HOW TO ENTER?
Partners in the Deciduous Fruit Gala Evening have to decide on their individual nomination and are then required to submit a motivation for this nomination containing the criteria as stipulated for this competition.
The closing date is 31 July 2016. No late entries will be accepted!

JUDGING
The entries and nominations will be judged by a committee appointed by the organizers.
The judges will be chosen in terms of their knowledge of the fruit industry and managerial skills.
Judging will take place beginning of August.
The decision of the judges is final.

NB: Please follow up to confirm that we have received your entry.
The competition is open to all nominees received from partners in the deciduous fruit gala evening and nominees must be involved in the agriculture and more specific the deciduous fruit environment in South Africa.
Previous winners may be entered again.
Nominees must have a minimum experience of 10 years continuous service
No permanently appointed employees of industry owned companies, trusts or associations qualify for this award, while in service.
During August the industry will make contact with the finalists to settle the final arrangements. The announcement of the winner and the presentation of this award will take place during the annual Deciduous Fruit Gala Evening on 16September 2016.
The deciduous fruit industries maintain the right to postpone or suspend the competition due to unforeseen circumstances.
The organizers are willing to assist the finalists with any travelling and accommodation arrangements if necessary.
