Assignment:

An assignment is a piece of work assigned to a student by a lecturer which is generally completed outside of scheduled class time. Students are expected to research the subject and then present their thoughts on a subject/ question/ problem and back this up with arguments and facts based on existing resources in a structured format. These may involve literature reviews, responding to questions, arguing a point, completing an activity and will usually require a bibliography with a specified citation style.
Deadlines are usually set for the submission of assignments and are usually submitted in hard copy or online using a drop box within a Virtual Learning Environment.
