Amplified 2010 Set to Rock

NOTE:The opening of the Amplified 2010 showcasing grant round and CD compilation nominations opened on Wednesday 3 March 2010.

Tasmania’s contemporary musicians will have the chance to shine on the national stage through Amplified 2010, a week of conferences, workshops and performances.

Amplified is sponsored by the State Government through Arts Tasmania by arts@work and aims to develop the state’s contemporary music industry.

Respected music industry stalwart fan, Ifan Thomas, today announced the opening of the Amplified Showcasing Grant round and called for nominations to the Amplified double CD compilation.

“Amplified showcases the stars of Tasmania’s contemporary music industry, with a strong focus on developing opportunities for Tasmanian musicians to shine on the national stage,” Mr Thomas said.

“The Showcasing Grant round offers grants of up to $3000 for activities and events, that best promote the work of Tasmanian musicians during Amplified.

“This is the fifth edition of Amplified and it’s fantastic to see it grow every year and deliver substantial outcomes for Tasmanian musicians,” Mr Thomas said.

Joe Nuttall, of acclaimed Tasmanian band Enola Fall said Amplified showcases our music to a broad cross-section of the movers and shakers within the Australian music industry.

“As a result, we’ve secured distribution through MGM and one of our tracks will be featured on a companion release with the next John Butler Trio album,” Mr Nuttall said.

Mr Thomas also announced the call for nominations for the Amplified double CD compilation.

“This compilation CD is a great way for Tasmanian musicians and bands to increase their exposure.I would like to see a whole swag of nominations that cross many music genres to fully represent the level of professional talent that exists in this state,” Mr Thomas said.

“The CD is offered free to the public and is distributed to record companies and publishers. It will be distributed through the Australian Music Regional Airplay Project to radio stations across the country.

“It’s a great opportunity to ensure Tasmanian music makes it on to the play lists of national radio stations,” Mr Thomas said.

Bands wishing to submit a song for possible inclusion on the CD should send a completed nomination form available at along with a high quality recording to arts@work by 15 April.

Grant applications close on 1April 2010. The Application Tool Kit for the Showcasing Grant round is available at
