Commission President, Jim Strehlow called the meeting of theRibMountain Metropolitan Sewerage District (Metro) to order at 11:30a.m.CommissionMembersPresent:TomWittkopf,Galen OlsonandBob Stavran. Excused:PaulWirth.Also Present: Duane Gau, Village of Kronenwetter; Ken Johnson, Manager/Superintendent; andKatherineKunze, Administrative Clerk/Secretary.

Reappointment of Galen Olson – Mr. Olson took the Oath of Office to act as a Rib Mountain Metropolitan Sewerage District Commissioner for another five-year term.

MINUTES

Mr. Stavran made a motion to approve the following July 2015 Check Register, with

Mr. Wittkopf seconding the motion. Questioned and unanimously passed.

FACILITIES AND GROUNDS UPGRADE

Mr. Johnson indicated that he just received the “Rough Draft” of the Metro’s Wastewater Facilities Plan report from Strand Associates. Mr. Johnson briefly reviewed this rough draft with the Commission. Mr. Johnson stated that he will be going to Madison next week to meet with Strand and go through the report and hopes to have the finalized document to give to the Commission at the September Meeting. A discussion was held regarding this matter.

Mr. Strehlow informed the Commission that Joe Gehin contacted him and indicated that Wausau will be sending a letter indicating that Wausau is again interested in discussing the possibilities of Wausau joining the Metro. A discussion was held. Nothing will be done until Mr. Johnson gets the letter.

MANAGER-SUPERINTENDENTS REPORT

BudgetComparison Report - Reviewed.

Asset/Replacement - Mr. Johnson reported that the Metro is again looking at a new telephone system. The Commission approved this last year, but nothing was done. Forward Electronics is demonstrating a phone system tomorrow and if all the dynamics of this system work for the Metro, the purchase will take place. This new system will cost approximately $3,200.

Mr. Johnson stated that he is looking at replacing the following:

1984 - 5 yard Dump Truck

1998 - JD Tractor

2003 - JD 5420 Tractor

1999 - Calumet

2009 - Ford F250 Truck

2nd Blower

Other Misc. Items

During discussion Mr. Johnson explained why.

DO Probes are being installed now and should be up and running in the very near future.

Mr. Johnson updated the Commissioners on the progress for the upgrade to the Metro’s SCADA system and computers.

Mr. Johnson stated that the Metro will be purchasing a GPS instrument. He explained what it will be used for.

Mr. Johnson pointed out that he is looking at a new company to develop and maintain the Metro’s Web Site. He explained why.

The UV Equipment is in need of a new set of bulbs.

Plant Report – Reviewed the July Report. Mr. Johnson gave the Commissioners a some literature regarding “Flushable Wipes” .

Mr. Johnson pointed out that the Metro is starting to sample the Communities for phosphorous.

He explained the importance of this.

Mr. Johnson informed the Commission that the Metro has full intentions to get out on the farm fields soon and would like the Commissioners to consider riding along to get a feel for the new trucks and what our employees do.

Old/New Business - Mr. Johnson asked for permission to attend the WEFTEC in Chicago next month. After discussion, the Commissioners gave their approval for him to attend.

The Metro’s 2016 Budget Workshop will beheld at 9:30 am on September 8, 2015, with the Regular Meeting to follow at 11:30 am. Mr. Johnson asked that if the Commissioners had any guidelines they would like him to followprior to the workshop he would appreciate it. He explained why this is so important.
