approaches the end of its 16th year, proud of all its accomplishments and yet frustrated at all that still has to be done. Remembering our goal “Open accountability of the most corrupt profession in America--- the legal profession”. It’s hard to believe even our own members still vote for lawyers whose goal it is to give more power to lawyers. Very few politicians ever spoke of “ Legal Reform”. Instead of praise for those who did, many of our friends denigrate them for all their other misgivings. Take a moment to reflect on our goals-Legal Reform . Set your priorities! Do you want more lawyers controlling your life and all branches of government? What if all branches of government were controlled by one religious, ethnic, or other group? What would you do? Freedom is not free! Please help us continue that goal.

If the grievance committees themselves weren’t so corrupt, we wouldn’t be doing this. Fact: 98% of all grievances are dismissed in secrecy without an investigation. We need an open civilian review board, not lawyers judging lawyers in secrecy.

Appointed by Gov. Pataki to the 11 member Commission on Judicial Conduct in 2003, Raoul Felder, celebrity divorce lawyer, was recently elected chairman of the body responsible for investigating complaints made against the state’s 3400 judges. The commission(Tel# 212-809-0566,www.scjc.state.ny.us, address- 61 Broadway, NY, NY 10006) whose staff of 28, recorded 1565 complaints against judges in ’05.After 260 “secret” investigations , 4 judges were bounced, 15 face censure, 5 were admonished, and 6 quit.
