Mr. Juan E. Martinez Baez has been a Professor for the American University of Puerto Rico for the past 10 years. His goal is to offer students a liberal-humanistic formation within the context of integration and application of knowledge in a flexible academic environment of quality and innovation; to maintain equality of opportunities to all persons in university studies within an environment of intellectual and moral integrity with dignity and respect for all; to promote a critical attitude and avant-garde at the changes and challenges of the work market and society; to value the commitment with the public and communitarian service; and to provide continuous education with activities that lead to the improvement of the quality of life of Puerto Rico and its communities.

Mr. Martinez Baez is attending the conference to learn how to maintain a coordinated program of dissemination and recruiting that promotes institutional strengths in the University’s Criminal Justice Program and to help students develop culturally and intellectually as human beings and professionals.

American University of Puerto Rico is a non-profit, co-educational, and non-sectarian private institution. It is recognized in the country for its tradition of service. The institution was established in 1963 as American Business College with post-secondary academic offerings in business administration and secretarial sciences. After a decade, in 1973, it began offering academic programs at the university level and a Program of Transference in Arts and Sciences. Starting in 1978, American University changed to a 4-year university program and adopted the name of American College of Puerto Rico.

Since 1982, the institution has been recognized as an institution of higher education by the Higher Education Council of Puerto Rico and the accreditation of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. With this recognition, the institution obtained authorization to use the name American University of Puerto Rico. In 2002, it obtained authorization to offer a master’s degree which was started with the Criminal Justice Program.

American University of Puerto Rico is committed to the complete development of its students.
