High Performing Nursing Homes, and How You Can Get There, Too

This session is aimed at nursing home leaders and will describe the “Change Package” that describes the successful practices of high performing nursing homes, and then discuss how to get “there.” This will be discussed in the context of the model to build capacity for the triple aim and to succeed in multiple payment models. Our speakers are Kelly O’Neill and Marilyn Reierson, both Program Managers at Stratis Health in Minnesota. Both have been instrumental in the CMS Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) project.

An Introduction to LEAN in Healthcare

Participate in an exciting introduction to the philosophies of LEAN and how it can be applied to healthcare. Additional topics include the seven wastes and LEAN tools and techniques used as countermeasures. As part of the session, several real examples of how LEAN was applied in a nursing home setting will be presented by Salter Health Care employees. Our speaker is Dan Fleming, Continuous Improvement Manager at GNPM. He has worked with hundreds of organizations throughout the United States and in 2009 he created a highly successful LEAN in Healthcare Certificate Course.
