Welcome & Meeting Called to Order – AABE IN Chap President, Mike Suggs

  • President’s Report

o  AABE Board Meeting –

  • Handout shared regarding the need and continuance of a strong, efficient and effective National office, legislative issues and policies faced, campaigning for membership growth and development, financial stability and sustainability, and entrepreneurship.
  • AABE Membership is now established on a yearly basis. Membership renewals will occur in January. Submission of application, national and local dues are due by the 28th of February.
  • Frank Steward, AABE National President, announced his plan to retire on May 1st 2011.

o  2011 National AABE Conference –

  • Theme: “Our Energy, Our Future: Creating Sustainable Communities”
  • Location: Hyatt, Jersey City, New Jersey
  • Date: April 27th – 29th and Pre-Conference Forum (April 26th)
  • Early Bird Registration discount though Jan 23rd.
  • Treasurer’s Report –

o  Received stipend for 2010 National Conference planning participation

  • Membership Report –
  • Committee Updates –

o  Community Outreach Committee

  • MKnox shared pleasant experience with “Lunch Bunch”. Seeking volunteers for upcoming lunch bunch February 22, 2011
  • Upcoming events – Pike High School Career Day, and Pike House Party December 18th, 2011, Sand Creek Elementary School (Fishers, IN) Science Fair February 11, 2011. Volunteers being sought for all events.
  • MKnox is in contact with Minority Engineering Program of Indianapolis (MEPI) for their 2011 schedule. 2012 SuperBowl media Center on Georgia St is their current project. IN AABE agree to work with this project.
  • DJefferson mentioned mentoring in Gary area. True Light mentoring program. More details to follow.

o  Fundraising & Scholarship Committee

  • 2011 AABE Scholarship Application deadline: March 11, 2011

·  Scholarship apps and info posted on website.

·  No apps received as of yet.

  • First Friday’s with Spencer & Nate Productions IMJPC. (Indiana Minority Joint Professional Committee

·  Discussion held on whether or not continued participation is advantageous.

·  MKnox motioned to go forth w/participation. CJohnson 2nd motion. After question and further discussion, MKnox amended motion to holding off until IMJPC members are further engaged. CJohnson 2nd motion.

  • Charlene Johnson – Honorary Plaque was presented
  • End of Year Chapter Newsletter was put together by MKnox. Copies were emailed December 9th, 2010.
