Amelia Earhart

Mrs. Blakeslee

Amelia Earhart was born in Atchison, Kansas in 1897. She was a famous woman aviator. Amelia saw her first plane when she was 11 years old at the Iowa State Fair. She graduated from Hyde Park High School in Chicago and attended college but never graduated. Amelia bought her first plane in 1921 and received her pilot’s license in 1922. In 1932 she became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean alone. In 1937, Amelia attempted to fly around the world. Her plane disappeared in the Pacific Ocean and was never recovered.

Amelia Earhart was brave and courageous. She tried to do things that no other woman did before. If I could meet Amelia Earhart I would ask her what it was like to fly solo.

Amelia Earhart was an important person because she proved that women could achieve the same things that men could. She also showed that everyone could achieve goals that then set for themselves.
