AmCham Singapore’s Past Chairman Voted to Lead APCAC

March 26, 2008–The American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore (AmCham Singapore) is proud to announce that Kristin E. Paulson, immediate past chairman of AmCham Singaporeand member of the board’sexecutive committee,has been elected as chairman of the Asia-Pacific Council of American Chambers of Commerce (APCAC) for 2008-2009.

Ms. Paulson is also president, South Asia Pacific, of United Technologies International Operations (UTIO). Before taking on her current role with UTC, Ms. Paulson served as manager of congressional affairs in UTC’s Washington office. She was chairman of AmCham Singapore for two years, in 2003 and 2004.

Ms. Paulson was chosen by the chairpersons of the American Chambers of Commerce that are members of APCAC. APCAC comprises 25 member AmChams, and represents the growing interests of over 50,000 executives and more than 10,000 businesses in 19 Asia Pacific countries and market economies. APCAC’s members manage trade volumes in excess of U.S. $400 billion and foreign direct investments (FDI) of nearly US$300 billion.

Ms. PaulsonsucceedsLandis Hicks, Executive Vice President of Pacific Architects & Engineers, who is also a former chairman of AmCham Singapore.

“I am honored to have been selected Chairman of APCAC, and I look forward to working closely with the AmChams in the Asia Pacific region. APCAC will continue to further the interests of American business throughout the region, particularly by promoting trade liberalization, and more competitive tax policies for Americans working abroad.

“With her many years of experience in Washington,D.C. and the Asia Pacific region, Kristin will be a natural fit for the APCAC position. Her background, leadership, and understanding of the U.S.legislative process will enable her to further some of the key issues APCAC is tackling on behalf of American companies in Asia.,” said Dom LaVigne, Executive Director of AmChamSingapore.

AmCham Selected As APCAC Secretariat

In addition to Ms. Paulson’s appointment, AmCham Singapore will assume the duties of APCAC Secretariat. The previous APCAC Secretariat was AmCham Philippines.

The Secretariat handles the day-to-day responsibilities for running APCAC. It supports APCAC’s Annual Doorknock to Washington, DC, when Asia Pacific AmChams meet with Administration and Congressional leaders on policy issues of mutual interest.
