2012 IEC-AEP NITA BULLOCK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

In honor of Nita Bullock's great dedication to the Inland Empire Chapterof the Association of Environmental Professionals (IEC-AEP), a special memorialscholarship has been created. Due to the many donations received, IEC-AEP is pleased to offer one scholarship in the amount of $2,000 to a student pursuing a career in the environmental field. Studentscurrentlyattendingfour- yearcollegesanduniversitiesinthe Inland Empire (including Cal Poly Pomona)areencouragedtoapply. Winnerswillbechosenbasedontheir outstandingcontributionstothefieldsofenvironmentalscience,policy, planning, research,design,law,and/orotherrelated disciplines.

The following award will be available through the 2012 IEC-AEP Nita Bullock Memorial Scholarship:

$2,000 award for a full-timeundergraduate/graduatestudent (12units or more)

ELIGIBILITY

1. Studentsmustcurrentlybestudyingthefieldsofenvironmentalscience,policy, planning, research,design,law,and/or other related disciplines.

2. Students must attend a four-year college/university or graduate program located within the Inland Empire (including Cal Poly Pomona).

3. ApplicantsmusthavebeenenrolledinanenvironmentalmajoratanInland Empireschoolduringthe2011-

2012 school year. Current high school seniors, incoming transfers from an unrelated major, or incoming transfers from anon-Inland Empire school are not eligible for thescholarship program.

4. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required.

5. Each scholarship winner must provide proof of enrollment for Fall 2012 before the award is disbursed.

Refertotheapplicationformforadetailed description of the application process and requirements – official transcripts, a written essay, and letters of recommendation are necessary. Notification of award will be made by November 10, 2012. The 2012 IEC-AEP Nita Bullock Memorial Scholarship winner must be present at the ICE-AEP luncheon on Tuesday, November 13 from 11:30 am to 1 pm to receive the scholarship.

2.OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS: Official transcripts should be included in the application submittal. Transcripts do notneed to be sealed but must be official. Website printouts of unofficial transcripts will not be accepted and the application will not be considered.

3.LETTERSOFRECOMMENDATION: Two(2)lettersofrecommendationfrompersonsnotrelatedtoyou,includingaminimumof one professor. Any letter from a professor must be on school letterhead and include a signature.

4.ESSAY (TWO-PAGE MAXIMUM): An essay must be included with the application submittal. The essay should address the following four areas:

Any personal experiences that have shaped yourdecision to pursue a career in the environmental field;

Anyrelevantresearch,education,fieldwork,internships,orprofessionalexperienceandexplainhowtheyrelatetoyour environmental career goals;

Specifywhatyouplantodointheenvironmentalfieldafteryouobtainyourdegree,andhowitwouldrelatetoIEC-AEP’s missionstatement to “enhance, maintain, and protect the natural and human environment.”

Anexplanationof:1)howthescholarshipawardwouldassistyouinachievingyourcareergoals;and2)howyouwould utilize the awardto improve the environment in the Inland Empire.
