I am happy to know that the Alumni Association of the Institute is bringing out the fifth volume of the ‘News Letter’ on October’2005. SLIET is a threshold to generate a Brain Bank of the professionals, the professionals who will be known for their innovation, imagination, analytical competence, scientific intellect, skill, business competency and entrepreneur skills. Alumni Association is a platform provided to the alumni to pay their gratitude to the Alma Mater for all that they are today. It also enables in creating a sense of togetherness and belonging for the alumni who have, by now fanned out all over the world.

The Institute has taken several initiatives during the past few years to encourage and strengthen the activities of the Alumni Association. I offer my gratitude and very best wishes to the members of alumni association. My colleagues and I greatly value the interest and enthusiasm showed by our alumni in the progress of the institute, and we also take immense pride in their numerous achievements in the service of the nation and humanity at large. / FROM PRESIDENT’S DESK
Academic Village
Today I am pleased to write a message to the alumni of SLIET, with a tremendous sense of pride for the institute and it’s loyal alumni body.
A continuing process of strengthening SLIET has marked these 14 years, since the first student stepped into the institute. This is the heritage that we honor and this is the responsibility that we all assume. We are a strong and attractive institution. Yet much remains to be done. SLIET is a work in progress. As Fleetwood Mac put it: "We can't stop thinking about tomorrow."
SLIET has evolved from the smaller simpler Institute; I came to in 1991, into the far more complex advanced institution of today. We substantially expanded both the faculty and the student body; we have achieved a student body that is more diverse racially, socially, and economically. Our curriculum has expanded in substantial ways and we have seen a major overhaul of the degree requirements. We accomplished these transitions with more success in some areas than in others.
The quality of our academic program is among the very best of any institution in the country. We are continually rising towards being among the attractive institutes in the country, and our admissions record is among the most competitive of any institute or university. If you check out the website ( you will find a new achievement that has been accomplished by the students, a new award won by a scholar, a new PhD earned by a faculty member. Ever changing face of the Institute towards a better tomorrow is worth a trip.
SLIET's future is exciting. Using creative approaches and significant investment we can build upon the best of what we have today. We have undertaken an important process: One that will shape an SLIET education for many years to come and shape it for the better. I am excited at the possibilities and intrigued by many of the suggestions we have received so far.
We — alumni, students, faculty, and administrators — have a shared responsibility to assure that SLIET can be the best institution of higher learning in this country. Ideas are the lifeblood of institutes and universities — but here we have long recognized the obligation of nurturing as well a physical place that symbolizes and enables a powerful sense of belonging and learning. This is an enduring example of what Thomas Jefferson described as an "academic village," a place where faculty and students form a community — learning together and learning from each other.
Thank you & stay connected.
Satveer Kaur
President

VIEWS FROM ALUMINI”S
The 7 years I have spend in SLIET are very precious for me. SLIET has given me the opportunity and show me the right path to explore my ideas, talent and most of all i always feel like home during my stay there. The faculty and students interaction is very good and very co-operative. The facilities provided to us are just like given in IIT's and NIT's and at some part we are much better to these institutions. Last but not least Engineers from SLIET are doing good in the INDIAN MARKET as well as SLIETIENS are well settled in abroad also. I wish SLIET will become No.1 Engineering Institution of INDIA.
<GLORY IS NOT IN NOT FALLING, BUT IN RISING AFTER EVERY FALL>
ANKIT CHAUHAN, Punj Lloyd
"It was 'sleight' of fate that i had the luck of joining a college which proved to be everything and even beyond what I had hoped for. From a simple start, our college has come a long way and in the process has aided me and my countless other college mates to achieve something from life, which may be regarded humbly as success. Giving the credit where its due, SLIET is place burning with enthusiasm and desire. This desire is shown in the marks its students are leaving in all possible fields and this desire is what will pave the way towards greater heights, for this college and for the lucky students."

TECHFEST-2005- AT A GLANCE

A never ending quest for knowledge, an undaunted endeavor to think for perfection, a contagious curiosity to mine even beyond excellence and unmitigated dedication to make the present of today even better than the future of tomorrow are what inspired SLIET Students to think big and continue braving the heights in organizing the Techfest-2005, however, in an endeavor to extend the actual benefit of science and technology to the common man of rural India thus helping Her to become a super economic power in the world of satellites. However, it is a fact that perfection is not attainable but, if one chase perfection, he or she can catch excellence. This time the mega event, Techfest-2005 is going to be organized w. e. f 12.11.2005 to 14.11.2005 and will be more industry oriented to provide the participating companies a podium to advertise their product and a chance to interact with more than 1000 students from all over India, along with around 2500 students and 500 faculty/staff members of our institute. Hence, in the digital world of satellite networks and along with emphasis on brand new events in the technical arena, there is also soothing bytes from informal and cultural arena as well. Further, Techfest-2005, The Mantra of Accountability in Search of Technology for Excellence, seeks to expand the mandate bestowed on our thinking and move the horizon of our reminiscence ever further for the cause of a common man in rural India.
With this aim and ideology in mind, the Techfest-2005 is again reloaded this time to explore the vistas of dedication, leadership and perfection which ultimately ends in achievement for which one not only boasts but proves its worth in the competitive world. In its last mantra, the festival witnessed a participation of more than 70 institutions\colleges with some as far from as Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Karnataka. Also, at the very core of Techfest-2005, lies the intention of industry institute interaction. The students want to interact with the industry to know their requirements and latest demands, while the industries want to put up their technical and managerial problem to institute and students. With this motive, the festival, in fact, blows a wind of change and infuses a breath of fresh air. Moreover, in this festival, events like working and non-working model exhibition, paper presentation, literary competition, workshops, informal events, cultural events and those organized by various academic departments in their fields were organized for the students of technical institution of the country.
