·  Attended Workshop Session I entitled “Financial Workshop 101: Managing Chapter Financial Operations using Financial Fundamentals” presented by Soror Danette Anthony Reed, Supreme Tamiouchos. Soror Colleen Venters, Beta Omicron Omega, was the facilitator and Soror Ashley Hall, Upsilon Rho Omega, was the recorder. This workshop discussed basic financial procedures to be used when dealing with Chapter finances. This workshop was for all financial officers as well as Chapter Basilei. The information received from this workshop that I feel was most important was how Chapters are currently taking electronic payments. There are several chapters who use electronic payments. Among these payments are PayPal and Square. It was emphasized by Soror Danette Anthony Reed that each Chapter should have internal financial procedures as well as credit card procedures, if they have a credit card. Chapters are authorized to have a credit card but debit cards are prohibited and NOT allowed.

·  Attended Workshop Session II Finance Forum entitled “Launching New Dimensions in Finance” presented by Soror Danette Anthony Reed, Supreme Tamiouchos. Soror Shaliah Thierry, International Finance Committee, Tau Omega Chapter, was the facilitator and Soror Barbara Graham, Beta Omega, was the recorder. There were several members of the Directorate in attendance as well as Supreme Basileus Soror Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson. This financial forum focused on the proposed 2017 and 2018 Budgets. There is a proposed increase in per capita of $25 for Undergraduates and $35 for Graduate and General Members. There has not been an increase in per capita for twelve (12) years. This would make per capita for Undergraduate members go from $70 to $95, Graduate member per capita will go from $90 to $125, and General members per capita will go from $200 to $235. The proposed increase would be used to fund the following initiatives:

o  Five dollars ($5) annually would go to support hosting the Boule.

o  Five (5) additional staff members will be hired at Corporate Office.

o  Ongoing Corporate Office maintenance and upgrades.

·  Attended Third Plenary Session - Soror Jan M. Carpenter-Baker, Presiding.

·  Attended “Gala LeBlanc” the conference’s formal gala featuring Charlie Redd and the Full Flava Kings as the entertainment.

This was a great conference! Thank you for the opportunity to serve and represent Beta Sigma Omega.

Sisterly submitted,
