Soccer Night
The Big Idea:
This event was designed with the FIFA 2010 soccer world cup competition in mind. The group was divided into smaller groups of 8 and were given 7 soccer games to complete. Their scores were tallied at the end to award the winning team with a prize. A member of the 2010 organising committee was invited to talk and share the gospel using a soccer theme.
The Preparation:
* Allocate team leaders to the seven games.
* Gather all the needed items for the seven games.
* Print out team scoring sheets.
* Get prizes for the winning teams.
The Program:
The evening started with hang time, then the showing of soccer videos (the best goals and the best funny moments in soccer found on YouTube). Then the teens were divided into teams of 8. They were told how they would rotate through all 7 soccer games and that each person had to complete each activity. They were released to compete and later scores were tallied to announce a winning team. A gospel message was presented.
The Soccer Games:
1. Wii - Play the Wii soccer game, 2 Play and the winner scores 3 points
2. Knockabout - Each person gets three turns to see who many times they can kick the ball on their foot without it touching the floor. You get a score for each kick into the air.
3. Fuseball - Have two people play against each other on a regular fusebal table - if you score a goal you get 3 points, then swap with the next person waiting.
4. FIFA 2009 - Use the EA Sports or Play Station game - 2 play, if you score you get 3 points
5. Blowball - Like blow football, have people compete by blowing a ball past the end of the table. First to three wins. You get the points you score.
6. Flick ball - Using the flick board game you play until 5 pucks are sunk and get five points. If you hit it down, you go again. Loser gets points for those down.
7. Target kick - Draw a target on the wall and each person has three kicks to score. The target has 3 circles – the outer is 1 point, the middle is 2 points and the inner is 3 points.
