POSITION DESCRIPTION: DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS/

MARKETING

1.00 GENERAL STATEMENT

1.01 Position Scope

a. The Director of Admissions/Marketing is directly responsible

for recruiting students to Allen County Community College.

Marketing Director is responsible for the development and implementation of the marketing plan for the College.

b. The Director will participate in the formation of general

college policies as a member of the student Affairs Council,

Standing Institutional Committees, task forces, and consul-

tative groups appointed by the President.

2.00 SPECIFIC STATEMENTS

2.01 Position Function and Category

a. Reporting Relationship: Dean of Students

b. Function/Category of Position: Student Affairs/Management

Supervisor

c. Length of Contract: 12 months (July 1 – June 30 annually)

d. Salary Category: IV

2.02 Supervision

a. Supervision Received:

- The Director reports directly to the Dean of Students.

b. Supervision Exercised:

- The Director coordinates the activities of the admissions

counselors and staff. The Director provides guidance and

supervision to the Director of Public Relations. In

collaboration with the Director of Outreach Student

Services, the Director provides guidance and supervision

to the outreach admissions counselor.

2.03  Key Areas of Responsibility

Admissions:

a. Develop an annual recruiting plan which includes designation

of primary, secondary, and tertiary high schools. The schedule will include at least one visit per semester to all high schools designated as primary and at least one visit per year to each

secondary and tertiary high schools.

b. Determine which KACRAO College Planning Conferences to

attend and develop schedule for coverage.

c. Develop industrial recruitment program for our service area to

promote programs as well as fall, spring, and summer classes.

d. Develop recruitment program for outreach and evening classes.

e. Develop recruitment programs for non-traditional students.

f. Develop lists of prospective students from visits, ACT scores,

inquiries, etc., and develop systems of letters and information

to go to these students at appropriate intervals. See that names

of prospective students are distributed to proper instructors,

activity directors, and coaches.

g. Design, plan, and implement at least one major recruiting

event on campus each semester (i.e., Senior Day, Spring

Pre-Enrollment, Adult Open House) for both traditional

and non-traditional students.

h. Make arrangements for prospective students to visit our campus and act as official host.

i. Assist with the development and implementation of an annual

Principal/Counselors Day on campus.

j. Develop a monthly report to be submitted to the Dean of

Students that outlines all recruiting activities for the previous month. The report will be presented at the first director’s meeting of every month. Report should include but not be limited to, College Planning conferences attended, high schools visited, industries visited, number of students contacted, and all other activities for the month. The final report will be included in the information items presented each month to the Board of Trustees.

k. Assist students in class selection and enrollment.

l. Prior to the first of each month, submit a monthly schedule

outlining schools or industries to be visited and on-campus

days to inform Dean of Students so that the recruiter could be contacted if needed.

m. Select and train Student Ambassadors to assist with admissions and

recruiting.

n. Train Admissions Counselors in recruiting techniques and

advising procedures.

o. Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Students.

p. Schedule and supervise Admissions Counselor and staff for maximum effectiveness.

Marketing:

a. Develop and implement the Marketing Plan for the college.

b. Chair the Marketing Committee and use their input for marketing decisions.

c. Determine and supervise the advertising needs of the college.

(Print, radio, television, direct mail, billboard, etc).

d. Work closely with Director of Public Relations in development and updating of web site as a marketing tool.

e. Develop recruiting materials, brochures, handouts, etc.

f. Develop and implement a telemarketing program.

g. Perform other marketing duties as assigned by the Dean of Students.
