Per Amy Oliver- A team of science leaders from ISDs, Math/Science Centers and Science organizations, together with MDE, are creating a transition timeline as a result Michigan’s adoption of the Next Generation Science Standards. There are many questions the timeline will address, including implications of teacher certifications and new assessments. Best advice for now is not to rush to address curriculum/instruction/assessment alignment and to be reassured that the secondary science work has always been working to position us for best practice and the NGSS.
