NETTucan–Efficient development tool for multi-ECU simulation
Automotive Ethernet bringsa complete new network technology intovehicles. With the use of SOME/IP, a middleware for automobile control communication, it makes communication more scalable and bandwidth more useable. b-plus supports the development and standardization of control units based on SOME/IP with the robust and configurable SOME/IP Ethernet Simulator NETTucan. With its stand-alone operation and the fast and simple handling it presents a complete solution for the simulation of SOME/IP networks.
NETTucan of b-plus providesevery developer who is working with control units with SOME/IP communication more time and enables especially higher test coverage. This SOME/IP Simulator simplifiesthe emulation of virtual network subscribers and simulates the communication in network, similar to the bus-simulation via CAN. One of the plainexamples is the simulation of wakeup-signals in terminal 30 control units for preventing the sleeping modeof control units.
Another benefit is the reliability of the stand-alone operation for endurance-tests, burn-in tests or environmental simulations. The stored configuration starts automatically without any Host-PC. Altogether it offers a perfect hardware- and software package for a temporally and functional reliable simulation without any influences of and on the development-PC.
The configuration of NETTucantakes place through a converter based on the communication definition and offers easy handling for developers. The used configuration format expands standard signal information of control units with necessary parameters like signal value and signal type. The developers have the option to implement individualcustomizations by himself. Every configuration options are available, for example message counters, ramps, CRCs etc.
With the SOME/IP Service Discovery (SD) it is possible to “subscribe” automatically to “ServiceOffer”. It helps developer in searching failure at a very early stage because of the realistic vehicle system load in laboratory.
Creating failure situations on development desk enable a temporal edge in contrast toan intensive analysis of vehicle recordings.
The SOME/IP simulator can simulate more than one network node like ECUs and doesn´t need other components. For ECU virtualization you simulate missing control units via SOME/IP. The standard functionality of NETTucan presents one simulation port and an optional BroadR-Reach connection via the media converter NETLion. In additionNETLionin operating mode “network tap” offers decoupling, in other words monitoring and logging, of network traffic between ECU and NETTucan simulation.
NETTucan was presented the first time to public on the Automotive Ethernet congress on the 3. and 4.February in Munich.
