Policy

All MULTI-COUNTY COUNSELING, INC. buildings and grounds are considered to be tobacco free grounds.

Procedure

A.  Tobacco Use

1.  All MULTI-COUNTY COUNSELING, INC. buildings and grounds are to be kept free of tobacco.

No person, (employee, persons served, or visitors) is allowed to possess or use any tobacco product including cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, cigars, cigarillos, blunts, little cigars, roll your own, shisah tobacco (hookahs), dissolvable tobacco (orbs, sticks, strips), snus, cream or dry snuff, dokha, gutka, bidis, kreteks, topical tobacco paste, tobacco gel, tobacco water, tobacco gum (not to be confused with nicotine gum) for the grounds of and within MCCI, and/or MCCI-ODMHSAS contracted facilities, and/or any other place where MULTI-COUNTY COUNSELING, INC. services are offered or MULTI-COUNTY COUNSELING, INC. business is conducted, by employees, consumers, volunteers, and visitors.

2.  Employees, clients, and/or visitors will all be encouraged to cease tobacco use and will be offered treatment if so desired.

B.  Implementation of Tobacco Policy at MULTI-COUNTY COUNSELING, INC. Locations

1.  MULTI-COUNTY COUNSELING, INC. employees delivering services in buildings not owned or leased by MULTI-COUNTY COUNSELING, INC. ensure that offices and rooms used by MULTI-COUNTY COUNSELING, INC. are tobacco free and are not ventilated by heating or air conditioning systems that also ventilate areas where smoking is permitted.

2.  Except for personnel performing prevention demonstrations, no staff person displays any tobacco product while on MULTI-COUNTY COUNSELING, INC. property or condones such a display by any visitor or person served.

3.  MULTI-COUNTY COUNSELING, INC. will offer clients who are tobacco users, cessation assistance while he/she receive services in MULTI-COUNTY COUNSELING, INC. facilities. Tobacco cessation assistance will include, but is not limited to: Referral for medication related tobacco cessation assistance; and will be added to the consumer’s treatment plan as an addiction related objective.

4.  MULTI-COUNTY COUNSELING, INC. also prohibits the use of any/all tobacco products in vehicles parked on Multi-County Counseling, Inc. property.

5.  The Regional Director and Clinical Staff are responsible for oversight that will ensure that tobacco products procedures are followed at all locations and that any further development, revision, or changes in the tobacco products policy is facilitated through the health and safety committee process.
