Raider Review – October 17, 2014

·  Remember to update your Raider wardrobe at the Raider Trader! Items will available for purchase every Wednesday from 12:00-2:00pm during lunch periods. You can also purchase merchandise during home games.

·  Reagan High School will begin a new tradition of honoring previous students, staff, and community members. It will be called the “Reagan Hall of Fame”. The by-laws and nomination forms are posted on the Reagan website. Nomination forms for the first Hall of Fame class are due by April 1st 2015. The first induction will take place the fall of 2015. The Hall of Fame Wall is located outside of our guidance department. The work was designed and recently installed by Apple Rock Advertising. Stop by and check it out.

·  Yearbooks are now on sale, and they can be purchased onlineat yearbookordercenter.com. Reagan's order number is 10592.

·  The American Legion holds an annual oratorical contest. We are looking for students (grades 9-12) who wish to enter this speech competition (which could yield significant award money!). Details/guidelines can be found at http://www.legion.org/oratorical/about. Interested students should notify Ms. Norris in guidance by late November.

·  International Club Dues are $5 and are due by Oct. 30th.

·  Guitar Fun - Friday at 3:45pm in Mr. Norwood's room #404. Play, practice, and learn.

·  Guilford College and the Multicultural Education Department are inviting Latino students to participate in the 8th annual Soy Un Lider Conference at Guilford College on Saturday, November 22nd. The annual conference strives to educate and motivate Latino students around higher education, scholarships and their ability to succeed despite many obstacles. ·  Interested in a nursing career? Forsyth Tech and WSSU have a partnership program to earn a 4 year degree by attending both schools. ·  Interested in majoring in Sports Medicine? Attend Catawba College’s Athletic Training Day Saturday, October 4th or November 8th. This is a fun and relaxed way to find out more information about the field of Sports Medicine (Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant, etc.).This hands-on experience is from 8:30-1:30 and you can register for the event here: https://www.catawba.edu/AT

·  ATTENTION SENIORS--Please take pictures of you and your friends together at school events throughout the school year. Please email them to so we can display them at the prom.

·  The Governor's School of North Carolina is a six-week summer residential program for intellectually gifted high school students, integrating academic disciplines, the arts, and unique courses on each of two campuses. The program, which is open to current juniors only, with exceptions made for sophomores in selected performing/visual arts areas, is located on two campuses of up to 300 students each.

To be eligible students must meet selection criteria, including an achievement test score at, or above, the 92nd percentile.

Reagan Swim Team Try-outs

1.  You must meet the following criteria in order to try-out for the 2014-2015 Swim Team:

·  HAVE A CURRENT PHYSICAL signed and dated by a physician along with insurance paperwork and concussion forms signed by a parent before the first day of tryouts

·  Be academically eligible (grades and absences

2.  There will be a 2-day tryout period. EVERY WORKOUT IS MANDATORY FOR EVERY ATHLETE WHO IS TRYING OUT FOR THE TEAM. Each athlete must provide his/her own equipment (suit, goggles, towel, etc.) and transportation for each workout. Here is the tryout schedule:
