All NJ Districts /

All five districts in Rotary International New Jersey are requesting nominations for each district’s Vocational Service Award which is to be presented at the New Jersey Rotary New Jersey Vocational Assembly. All five Rotary districts in New Jersey participate in this event: Districts 7470, 7490, 7500, 7510 and 7640. There will be one award given to a Rotarian from each district.

The assembly is the largest vocational service event throughout Rotary and attracts the highest- level dignitaries from Rotary International. The event also features distinguished leaders in New Jersey’s business and government communities.

This year’s event will take place on Tuesday October 6, 2015 at the Pines Manor, 2085 Route 27, in Edison, New Jersey 08817. Visit www.RotaryNJVA.org for more details.

The submission deadline for all nominations to the DGE in each District is August 15, 2015. Many of our Rotarians are deserving of this prestigious award, including nominees from the past that did not receive the award. Applications for past nominees are welcome.

Please complete the following form and take care to respond fully to each of the questions, including how the candidate meets each criterion. You may type on the form and use as much space as needed. Please be concise and direct when answering each question.

Please attach a photograph and biological sketch of the nominee reflecting their vocational contributions and activities and not a professional resume.

Through vocational service, Rotarians contribute their professional expertise and skills to address societal problems and needs. As business and professional leaders, we have a duty to lead and encourage high ethics through our vocations. Please note that a Rotary Club may submit only one (1) nomination each year from their club. Greater emphasis should be given to nominees who volunteer their time and less emphasis to nominees who are paid for their efforts.

1. Employer Employee Relations:
How has the nominee promoted efforts in his/her business or profession to increase the loyalty and productivity of the employees by relations based on fairness and understanding? Has the nominee urged club members to do likewise in their businesses and professions? Has the nominee encouraged the improvement of the vocational skills of its employees to promote their advancement. Give examples.
2. The 4-way Test:
How does the nominee live his/her personal, business or professional life by the 4-way test? Has the nominee promoted the use of it in schools, professional or trade associations? Has the nominee encouraged club members to do the same in their businesses and professions? Give examples.
3. Occupational Information:
How has the nominee promoted activities to assist young people in career elections and vocational advancement? If so, how and when? Give examples.
4. Trade and Professional Relations:
If the nominee joined a trade or professional association in his/her business or profession, how has he or she taken a leadership role in such? How has the nominee promoted programs to upgrade standards of honesty and courtesy in such associations and urged club members to do the same in their association relationships? Has the nominee participated in continuing education programs to advance their vocational expertise and that of their associates? When? Where?
5. Other:
How has the nominee provided special expertise to civic agencies or community organizations as a volunteer? Also, list here outstanding vocational service accomplishments of the nominee. If available, attach documentary evidence such as newspaper clippings, program bulletins, etc. to support your nomination.

The Vocational Service Committee is requesting nominations from all 5 Districts for the Vocational Service Assembly. This prestigious award is to be presented at the NJ Vocational Assembly. The Assembly is the largest vocational service event throughout Rotary.
