I am to inform you that the Youth Hostel, Tirupati, located at Opp. Reserve Police Qtrs, New Balaji Colony, AIR By Pass Road, MR Palli is functioning as an autonomous unit under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, New Delhi. This organization is headed by the Collector & District Magistrate, Chittoor (Dist), A.P. State as Chairman and the day-to-day affairs are looked after by a full time Manager. The Youth Hostel is situated at an equi-distance of 1½ Km from the Central Bus Station and Rly Station , Tirupati and is in the central part of the town. The Youth hostel is convenient to Government & Non Government Organizations in Tirupati and surrounding area for celebrating their annual school / college day functions, annual sports and games events, cultural events and special events, like meetings, conferences, seminars, trainings, parent-teacher association meetings and etc;. The premises of the Youth Hostel, Tirupati is spacious enough with an open auditorium to conduct their meets / functions with a seating capacity for around two thousand participants. Separate dormitory rooms, double cot rooms and meeting halls with sufficient lighting facilities and a canteen for 80 to dine at time are available. All these facilities are available to ALL on prior intimation and at vary reasonable rates:-

Importance of ‘TIRUMALA & TIRUPATI’ - The abode of Lord Venkateswara, other wise popularly known as ‘BALAJI’, is Tirumala, a picturesque hill top with the Tirupati town being at the foot of the hill. The world famous temple is one of the most ancient Vaishnavite shrines in India. It was patronized by the Pallavas, Cholas, Pandyas and the Vijayanagaram kings and it was even mentioned in the shastras, puranas and stala mahatyams. The Tirupati town is a temple town with many places of worship like Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple, Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple, ISCON Temple, Sri Kapila Theertham (Shiva temple).

A few other important places surrounding Tirupati are Sri Kalahasti (Shiva temple), Chandragiri Fort, Gudimallam (Sri Parameswara Swamy), Horsely Hills, Thalakona (Water Falls), Kailasanatha Kona (Water Falls), Srinivasa Mangapuram (Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy), Kalyan Dam (drinking water storage tank), Narayanavanam (Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy), Nagalapuram (Sri Vedanarayana Swamy), Kanipakam (Sri Varasiddhi Vinayaka Swamy), Alivelu Mangapuram-Tiruchanoor (Sri Padmavathi), Appalaya Gunta (Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy), Zoo, Planetarium etc;. The other famous institutions in Tirupati are BIRDD Hospital (free equipment for physically disabled persons), SVIMS Hospital (super specialty hospital of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams).
