Available State of Florida Scholarships

The State of Florida offers three different scholarship opportunities to Florida residents. MLA accepts the Step Up for Students (formerly the Florida Pride Scholarship), AAA Scholarship Program, and the McKay Scholarship.These are administered through the State of Florida and each has its own set ofqualifying criteria. Each scholarshipis subject to change by the state, and the parent owes any fees

  • STEP UP FOR STUDENTS AND AAA SCHOLARSHIP can be awarded to parents based on income level. They may pay over $55886.00 of your yearly tuition costs ifyou meet the requirements and follow all the policies set forth. The parents must be current with all thetuition fees owed by them toremain in the program, and the student must follow the attendance policy.
  • MCKAY SCHOLARSHIPS are awarded based on a current IEP in the school district. Parent is responsible for payment of the difference between the McKay and published rates.

Elementary School hours are 8:30 am until 3:00 pm and Middle and High School hours are 7:50am until 2:35 pm. Seventardies equal one absence.

School Days Off:

See ourcalendar for a schedule of our school year. There is a $20/day chargefor childcare during breaks or days off from school.

Lunch Policy:

Students are required to bring their own lunch/drink from home. We do not use a refrigerator so plan wellwhen sending lunches. SODA or energy drinks are not allowed under anycircumstances. Each student will have one snack time per day so pack accordingly. We encourage parents tobring healthy lunches and snacks. Please no candy, cakes, chocolate, etc.

ManateeLearningAcademy also offers a cold lunch choice. Lunches are $2.00 per day with the option to purchase a beverage for .50.

School Uniform Policy:

Students must wear either a red, white or blue polo or tee-shirt each day. School tee-shirts are available for purchase. Students can wear any bottom as long as it is appropriate. Skirts must have shorts underneath and shorts cannot be shorter than two inches above the knee. Any student out of uniform will get a violation sent home.Socks andclosed toe shoes must be worn daily. Tennis shoes must be worn on PE days. No sandals, crocks, heels, or flip flops at anytime.

Enrollment Policy:

When a child is enrolled at ManateeLearningAcademy, a space is held for the entire school year. In the child’s best interest, we ask parents tomake every effort to complete each quarter or semester before making changes in their child’s school.When a change is unavoidable, tuition charges will be prorated on a monthly basis.New students will be charged for the entire month when they are first enrolled, and transferring students willbe charged for the entire month during which they are last enrolled. Report cards and transcripts are releasedto students, parents, or other schools only when the student’s account is current.

Volunteer Hours:

All parents are required to volunteer a minimum of 20 hours per year (30 for multiple students). Hours can be earned by volunteering in the classroom, during recess, helping with lunch, fundraising, chaperoning field trips and many other ways throughout the year. A list of opportunities will be sent home at the beginning of the year. The parent liaison will be in contact with parents for scheduling.
