1. MATERIALS NEEDED:

A. A notebook for daily notes and assignments.

B. A graphics calculator, if possible. (suggested models TI-83(plus), TI-84(plus))

C. A folder or 3-ring binder to organize handouts, quizzes, tests, etc.

D. Pencils and erasers.

2. GRADING PROCEDURES

A. Summative Assessments

1. A semester test at the end of each semester (20% of semester grade)

2. Chapter Projects/6-7 Unit Tests per semester (70% of semester grade)

B. Formative Assessments

1. There will be several formative assessments throughout the semester to assess where students are at. (10% of semester grade)

C. Re-takesmay be earned under the following conditions:

QUALIFIERS:

a. 75% of the homework and the review has been completed prior to the first test.

b. The corrections are completed prior to the re-take time and stapled to the back of the original test. The student needs to go over the corrections with me to show me they are ready to take the re-test.

  1. Re-takes should be completed before the next chapter test.
  2. The second score on the re-take will become the new score if all criteria was completed prior to the first test.
  3. If not the student must complete 100% of the homework, go over corrections prior to re-take, and will receive at best a 75%.

D. “Open notes” for quizzes which are formative. Homework assignments are considered to be part of your notes.

E. Quizzes may not be re-taken.

F. Tests missed because of an excused absence should be made up the day you

return to class. Make-up tests may be scheduled for any TIME and PLACE

that is mutually convenient. Extensions for make-up tests may be granted on an

individual basis for absences of 3 or more consecutive days.

G.Daily note cards and participation

  1. Approximately 1-2days a week you will write on a note card the last few minutes of class.
  2. This is a great way for me to get to know you and for you to have a voice so you can ask questions, make comments, or share concerns.

3. ATTENDANCE:

  1. Good attendance is VERY IMPORTANT for your success!

B. Students eligible for RP: One or more unexcused absences or three or more

unexcused tardies in a nine week period WILL result in low behavior grades.

4. EXPECTATIONS:

A. Be prepared (have necessary materials, completed assignments).

B. Be respectful of others at all times.

C. Follow directions and learn from your mistakes!

D. You should figure on a minimum of 30 minutes of homework outside of class.

Some will be group work. I will always expect your best and in return, I will try to always give you my best!

5. EXTRA HELP:

  1. I am available for help before and after school, during prep hours, and lunch hours. Please come see me so I can help.
  2. I will post my notes and videotaped lessons on my webpage if you are absent to use as a resource.

6. TIPS FOR SUCCESS:

A. Do your homework assignments EVERY DAY, even if they are not graded. They

are given to prepare you for graded assignments such as quizzes, tests, and

projects.

B. Don’t let yourself get behind. ASK FOR HELP RIGHT AWAY!

C. Have confidence in yourself. Appreciate the opportunity to learn and improve!
