Aldar Academies awards facilities management contract across five schools to Cofely Besix Facility Management

Dubai, UAE, 13 March, 2016:Cofely Besix Facility Management (CBFM) has been awarded a three-year facilities management contract to provide integrated facility management services to Aldar Academies.

Aldar Academies currently consists of a portfolio of five schools located across Al Ain and Abu Dhabi, accommodating children aged from 3 to 18 years. All the schools are managed according to the highest ADEC standards.

CBFM has been commissioned to provide full hard and soft facility management services including operations and maintenance of electrical systems, HVAC and ventilation systems, fire and life systems, BMS, 24-hour MEP services, as well as managing the internal and external building fabric and structure. The scope also includes management of the audio visual and PA systems, general cleaning of the buildings, swimming pool maintenance, pest control and landscaping.

“We believe that our previous experience working with Aldar, coupled with our extensive experience in operating schools across the region, enables us to fully understand Aldar’s overall strategy and objectives and the uniqueness of operating within the school environment,” explained Ian Harfield, CEO of Cofely Besix Facility Management.

“A school or educational establishment is quite different from a standard commercial property given that the main occupants are children. For example, we have to make sure all the sockets are covered with blanks, when patrolling before school starts, and we need to do thorough check for any breakage that could cause danger or injury to pupils and staff.”

“It is also imperative that any broken toys or equipment are repaired or removed from the premises, and we have daily perimeter fence and gate check, as well as securing all out of bound areas, to ensure all the children are safe. It is also important to make sure that we use appropriate barriers to protect pupils and staff when carrying out reactive works and to avoid areas in the school that are occupied when carrying out planned preventative maintenance,” added Harfield.

The contract is valid for a period of three years, and CBFM has assigned over 85 personnel specifically to the project.
