Write-ups:

  • Students will receive handouts detailing complete write-ups in hard copies for all presentations. Students can use these to add notes and/or sketches during the demonstrations by the instructor; they will also be useful during practice time. It is highly recommended that you keep these in your compendium for future referral as they contain the specific, accurate information for these classic Montessori materials.
  • Retype and include all write-ups (with your own notes/sketches as desired), following MECR guidelines. You may retype in your native language. This process, based on observation by Dr. Montessori as well as current brain research, provides an opportunity for you to internalize and integrate this vital information. This authentic learning endeavor will help you understand Montessori philosophy at a deep and holistic level.
  • Use tabs or dividers for the different sections.
  • Handouts: A few crucial handouts maybelong in your album; however, the vast majority will belong in your compendium. Your instructor will clarify the location of each one. Handouts in your album should be included in Table of Contents.

Illustrations:

  • You may use photos, your own drawings, or a combination of both.
  • Pay attention to the minimum illustration requirements for each material, as given to you by your instructor in the Album Notes.
  • Illustrations should be close-up, accurate, no children, clear, and in color.
  • Remember to place the name of the material on the illustration page, along with a label, if needed, i.e., beginning, in process, end.
  • Make sure your labels are neat: if your writing is unclear, use a computer.
  • Illustrations should be opposite the page of the write-up.

Notes:

  • Sheet protectors are optional.
  • All work should be proofread carefully for spelling and typographical errors.
