Registration/Letter of Intent (LOI) Form

General Instructions

This form contains the template and instructions for both the REGISTRATION and LOI stages of the competition. Please only complete and submit the required fields for PART A at the registration stage, and both PART A and B at the letter of intent stage.

PART A: REGISTRATION must be submitted to Genome Alberta by May 8, 2018. Please contact Genome Alberta immediately if you require additional clarification on the requirements to complete this REGISTRATION.

A REGISTRATION must be submitted electronically by 11:59 PM (MDT) on the deadline date of May 8, 2018 to with the email subject line:

“A3GP – REG – [Lead Investigator LAST NAME]”

Applicants will be notified shortly after submission if the proposed research topic is determined ineligible by the funders.

PART A + PART B: LETTER OF INTENT (LOI) must be submitted to Genome Alberta by June 4, 2018. Please contact Genome Alberta immediately if you require additional clarification on the requirements to complete this LOI.

An LOI must be submitted electronically by 11:59 PM (MDT) on the deadline date of June 4, 2018 to with the email subject line:

“A3GP – LOI – [Lead Investigator LAST NAME]”

Please submit all application files in WORD format with the same file name as the email subject line, along with signed copies of the cover pages as a separate PDF.

Type must be single-spaced, with top, bottom, left and right margins of a minimum of 1 inch. Type font Arial, 11-point or larger must be used. Type [LEAD INVESTIGATOR LAST NAME] into the footer of the document.

MEANING OF THE SIGNATURES

The signatures of the Project Leader(s) attest that this project plan has been reviewed and approved for submission to Genome Alberta by all co-applicants listed on the form. The signatures of the Project Leader(s) authorized institutional representative will attest that this project plan has been reviewed and approved for submission to Genome Alberta. Furthermore, Genome Alberta is requesting consent to display high-level information of the registrations submitted on it’s website to raise awareness with potential partners.

In a maximum of one (1) page, inclusive of references, figures and tables, provide a clear and concise summary of the proposed genomics-enabled solution, expected deliverables, and potential social and/or economic benefits to Alberta’s agriculture and agri-food sector. Clearly define how the research aligns with the Program Guidelines.

B. LETTER OF INTENT (LOI) FORM

Please complete the remaining sections I – IV of PART B for the letter of intent to the program. This section is not to be completed at the registration stage and will be removed prior to review.

I. DETAILED RESEARCH PLAN

In a maximum of two (2) pages (including figures and tables, excluding references) outline the research to be conducted, the methodologies that will be used and how the research project addresses the eligibility criteria for the program as described in the Program Guidelines.

  1. EXPECTED SOCIAL AND/OR ECONOMIC BENEFITS

In a maximum of two (2) pages (including figures and tables, excluding references), describe, with justification, the deliverables expected from this project and describe their potential to lead to significant social and/or economic benefits for Alberta’s agriculture an agri-food sector. Include a brief plan that explains how the deliverables from the research will be translated, disseminated, used, and/or applied to realize the benefits. Describe how end-users are engaged in the research and translation plan in order to ensure receptor uptake. If applicable, please articulate how the project fits in to a larger vision for advancing agricultural genomics related to the topic of interest.

III. PROJECT TIMELINE

In a maximum of one (1) page, and using the simple GANTT chart provided below, summarize the project timeline and deliverables by year as they relate to the achievement of the overall project goals.
