Alaska State Elks Member Lodges, District ENF Advisors, and Lodge ENF Chairmen

Greetings,

Through the great hearts of Alaskan Elks, the 15 lodges in Alaska donated a total of $56,162.18 to Elks National Foundation in 2016/2017. You did President Konrad Jackson and yourselves extremely proud.

If you have not done so please take the time to recognize your membership for the extraordinary dedication to the National Foundation and to the charitable activities that you have dedicated your efforts toward.

In 2016 / 2017, Elks National Foundation provided $2.47 per member back to the State of Alaska for every dollar donation. That is money that came directly back to the State of Alaska for support of your communities.

Don’t stop now!! We are just past the first quarter of the 2017/2018 lodge year and three lodges have already met the Grand Exalted Ruler’s goal for the year. Last year we just missed having all 15 Alaska lodges meet the goal and I hope that we can count on all 15 Alaskan lodges to encourage your members to continue to donate to the foundation, that touches virtually everything we, as Elks, do for our communities.

As I have said many times, the foundation is funded through your members donations, not lodge operating funds. Each lodge has an ENF chairperson that I hope will educate your membership as to where their donations go and how much more we, in Alaska get back. Through the partnership of the ASEA Trust Fund and Elks National Foundation we ensure that the ASEA Youth Camp is able to continue to support the disadvantaged kids in your community without direct expenditure from your lodge budget.

I also want to encourage you to identify an “in house” grants coordinator to get up to speed on the grant available to your lodge and community through the Elks National Foundation. Last year four lodges in Alaska collected a total of $12,000 toward improving and supporting their communities, WHY NOT 15 LODGES? Once you have a grants coordinator who is aware of how to request, utilize and report these ENF grants you cannot help but make a mark that will be remembered by your community. Have a big idea, put together a package for the impact grant. Smaller grants are available from $2,500 to $1,500 to help you make your mark.

On behalf of ASEA President Mike Southcott, PGER Roger True, I and every student, veteran and recipient of assistance received from you through your donations – THANK YOU!

I hope that each of you will share this letter with your membership at a lodge meeting or through your newsletter.

Fraternally, and Sincerely,

Al Nagel, SRGER
